  • Patent number: 9058099
Abstract: A touch screen device and an operating method are provided in which only a specific position on a touch screen is activated to receive signals. The touch screen device includes a screen including a display configured to display menu images thereon and a detector configured to detect a screen touch, and a controller configured to control operations of the device according to the screen touch detected by the detector. The controller may cause the detector to be divided into an execution area configured to execute a menu when the menu placed on the execution area is touched, and a selection area configured to sequentially move the menu images to the execution area when the selection area is touched. Alternatively, the controller may cause the detector to be divided into a moving area configured to move a menu from a touch point along a drag line while the menu is dragged, and an execution area configured to execute the relevant menu when the touch on the execution area is released.

  • Patent number: 8169411
Abstract: A touch screen device and an operating method thereof are provided. More specifically, a touch screen device is provided which allows a user to selectively restrict input through a touch screen. The touch screen device includes a screen that includes a display configured to display images thereon and a detector configured to detect a touch on the display and convert the touch into an electrical signal, and a controller configured to cause images to be displayed on the display and receive and process signals from the detector. Further, a user may determine whether the controller is operated according to the signal input into the detector. The determination may be made either by a switch separately installed on an earphone or by inputting a signal into the detector by a user.

  • Patent number: 8028251
Abstract: A touch screen device and a method of operation are provided. The device and method allow for scrolling and selection of files from a file list, and for skipping or reversing an execution order of the selected files simply by performing a drag on a touch screen. The method of selecting files on the touch screen device includes detecting a diagonal drag on a screen, selecting file(s) included within a corresponding range, and skipping file(s) within the range. The method may also include changing an execution order of the selected file(s) when a drag with a return trajectory is detected. The method may also include scrolling through the file list in accordance with a direction and speed of the drag. The device and method allows a plurality of files to be selected and skipped at a time, and a desired file to be rapidly and easily located.

  • Publication number: 20090213086
Abstract: A touch screen device and an operating method thereof are provided. The touch screen device is operated by touching a touch screen and moving a touch while the touch is maintained on the screen. A detector detects a touch point and a moving trajectory, and a controller selects a user command based on the detected touch point and moving trajectory. Then, when the user releases the touch, the controller executes the user command. User commands are classified and stored in a storage device and then executed by the controller based on operation modes associated with the device. A variety of user commands may be executed even though not all the menus are not displayed on the screen at once. Further, a user may cancel an erroneously entered user command quickly and easily.

  • Patent number: 7360101
Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling CPU speed transition can use an SMI (System Management Interrupt) signal to perform speed transition of a CPU of a computer such as a notebook computer. However, if the bus master device is in the active state, a control operation needed for CPU speed transition is cancelled at the same time an event signal (e.g., a watchdog SMI or an embedded controller SMI) is created at prescribed intervals and the bus mater device active state is accordingly re-checked. Therefore, when the bus master device is in the active state, the control operation for CPU speed transition is cancelled to prevent the computer from hanging up, and the CPU speed transition control operation is periodically retried to increase a likelihood of a normal CPU speed transition or the normal CPU speed transition can be established.

  • Patent number: 7185161
Abstract: A method or apparatus can reduce or prevent unauthorized data access by securing data stored on a hard disk of a computer system. The method can include requesting a user to enter a password if the computer system is powered on under the condition that a password for security of the hard disk of the computer system is previously stored and data previously written on the hard disk is converted into a specific format for security and stored on the hard disk of the computer system, determining whether the password entered by the user corresponds to the previously stored password, storing the determined result, and selectively reading and outputting the format-converted data stored on the hard disk upon the user requests according to the determined result. The requested data can be output to a monitor. User write operation requests can operate according to the determined result.

  • Patent number: 6434696
Abstract: A method for quickly booting a personal computer system using boot configuration information on memory and the attached devices that was created and saved in a hard disk at the preceding boot process. The method for a quick boot process includes the steps of performing a power-on self test POST) operation when a personal computer system is powered on or a reset button is pressed; performing a normal boot process after the POST operation; saving the contents of memory and the status of the attached devices to a hard disk; checking if a reboot is requested; restoring the saved boot configuration information from the hard disk, after POST is completed during the reboot process; checking whether or not an initial device configuration file and/or an automatic batch file were changed; and executing commands in the two files and saving a newly created boot configuration information to the hard disk for future boot.
