  • Patent number: 6433763
Abstract: A plasma display panel drive art capable of restraining a contour noise in a picture displayed on a PDP and reducing a maximum power consumption. The drive art allows one frame to be consisted of a plurality of sub fields each having a different weighting value for brightness so as to display a video signal of gray scale. The plurality of the sub fields are differently arranged along with a distribution of logical values in the video data for one frame, thereby dividing the one frame into a display interval and a non-display interval. Also, the plurality of the sub fields are equal to sub fields without a sub field having a least weighting value for the brightness.

  • Patent number: 6362800
Abstract: A plasma display panel driving method is disclosed. In the method, a screen is divided into at least two blocks along scanning lines, and other blocks perform a sustaining process when a certain block performs an addressing process. Accordingly, the ratio of a time occupied by a sustaining interval in the entire frame is raised to improve a brightness level. Also, an addressing time is reduced to permit a high-speed driving. Since a reset interval is separated to increase the contrast.

  • Patent number: 6188374
Abstract: A plasma display panel that is adapted to reduce the power consumption and the EMI and to prolong a life thereof. In the panel, common terminals are used in first and second sustain electrode lines arranged on a pixel cell matrix to keep a discharge in pixel cells. The common terminals simultaneously apply a driving signal to each of two sustain electrode lines, thereby charging electric charges in next line pixel cells during maintaining the discharge at one line pixel cells.

  • Patent number: 6088009
Abstract: A device for compensating for image distortion of a plasma display panel using a subfield driving method includes: a control unit for generating the number of first and second sustain pulses that is proportional to the relative ratio of luminance of each subfield, and control signals, and an image distortion compensation unit for adding one or more first and second pseudo pulses in each interval of the first and second sustain pulses corresponding to at least any one of subfields, according to the control signals, and generating first and second compensation pulses to compensate for the image distortion. This enhances the quality of images even when adjacent gray scale signals are supplied in succession. By adding pseudo pulses in each interval of the sustain pulses corresponding to at least any one of the subfields, this adds a compensation value according to the pseudo pulses to the luminances of the subfields, thus reducing the luminance difference between the successive gray scale signals.
