Abstract: A liquid crystal display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a first field generating electrode with a plurality of cutouts. A thin film transistor is connected to the first field generating electrode. An auxiliary electrode is overlapped with one or more of the plurality of cutouts of the first field generating electrode, and is floated during the period of image display. A second field generating electrode faces the first field generating electrode and a liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first and second field generating electrodes. The liquid crystal layer includes a plurality of liquid crystal molecules and photo-polymers.

A liquid crystal layer is arranged between the first and second substrates. The pixel electrodes include bent portions. The pixel electrode and the common electrode include sub cutting patterns extending towards the sub domains at the bent portions.
