Patent number: 7603869Abstract: The present invention relates to a refrigerator having a dispenser. In the present invention, the dispenser is provided in a concave portion of a door to be exposed toward a front surface of the door. A water tank is installed between a rear surface of the dispenser and a door liner defining a rear surface of the door. The water tank stores the water delivered from an external water supply source while the water in maintained at a relatively low temperature and then discharges the water to the outside through the dispenser. Furthermore, in the present invention, a nozzle, through which the water is discharged from the water tank, is directly connected to a drainpipe of the dispenser, so that users may always take out the water maintained at a constant temperature.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 2004Date of Patent: October 20, 2009Assignee: LG Electronics Inc.Inventors: Seong-Ook Kim, Ill-Shin Kim, Si-Yeon An, Dong-Yeol Yoo, Oh-Chul Kwon, Bum-Sik Lee, Joo-Won Park

Patent number: 7080518Abstract: The present invention relates to an ice maker for a refrigerator and a method of testing the ice maker, and more particularly, to an ice maker for use in a refrigerator for making and releasing ice and a method of testing the ice maker to determine whether the ice maker is normally operated. The present invention provides a process for checking the operation of the ice maker and checks an operating state of all components needed for the normal operation of the ice maker. Further, in the checking process, it is determined whether initial set values needed for the operation of the ice maker are appropriate, and the initial set values can also be adjusted.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2004Date of Patent: July 25, 2006Assignee: LG Electronics Inc.Inventors: Seong-Ook Kim, Ill-Shin Kim, Chang-Hwan Seo

Patent number: 7047754Abstract: The present invention relates to a heater controller and a heater control method of a refrigerator, and more particularly, to a heater controller and a heater control method of a refrigerator, which control a heater mounted in a refrigerator dispenser. In the present invention, a dispenser of a refrigerator door is provided with a water tank. In order to prevent water in the water tank from being frozen over, the heater is mounted at an outside of the water tank. In addition, by measuring an outer surface temperature of the water tank and then recognizing a water temperature in the water tank based on the outer surface temperature of the water tank, the heater is controlled to be turned on/off based on a range of the water temperature in the water tank. Furthermore, in the present invention, an ambient temperature at a position of the refrigerator is measured, and then, the heater outputs heat energy according to a range of the ambient temperature.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2004Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Assignee: LG Electronics Inc.Inventors: Si-Yeon An, Seong-Ook Kim, Oh-Chul Kwon, Bum-Sik Lee, Dong-Yeol Yoo
