  • Publication number: 20030097850
Abstract: A refrigerator with a multipurpose storage chamber and a control method. In the refrigerator, the flow of cool air to the multipurpose storage chamber is selectively controlled in accordance with a variety of operational modes. In order to accomplish such a cool air flow control, a refrigerating compartment fan and a damper are provided at positions above a refrigerating compartment evaporator. In addition, a flap, controlled at an open angle thereof, is provided at the inlet of an air guide path guiding the cool air to the multipurpose storage chamber. The multipurpose storage chamber of this refrigerator can thus effectively be used to store a variety of foods in accordance with storage characteristics of the foods. In addition, a thawing mode operation of the refrigerator is performed under the condition that it is not necessary to perform a refrigerating compartment cooling operation.

  • Patent number: 6055820
Abstract: In a refrigerator temperature controlling apparatus and method thereof adopting GA-fuzzy inference, the refrigerator includes a cool air passage formed at both sides of the rear surface of a housing for guiding downward the cool air passing through a guide passage, a cool air discharging adjustment blade rotatably installed in front of the housing for dispersing and concentrating the cool air produced from discharging apertures, a driving motor for driving the cool air discharging adjustment blade, and a controller with each temperature sensors in left right side walls, for comparing the temperature inferred by the GA-fuzzy inference with data learned by reference to control the cool air discharging direction. Therefore, the cooling speed becomes fast and the temperature distribution depending on the refrigerated foodstuffs is made uniform throughout the refrigeration compartment. Also, the incoming external temperature due to door openings can be compensated for.

  • Patent number: 5778694
Abstract: A refrigerator includes a plurality of cold air inlet openings formed in a rear wall of the refrigerating compartment for directing cold air in respective directions into the refrigerating compartment. A motor-driven rotary damper is provided to control which of the inlet openings receives cold air, as well as the quantity of air introduced into the refrigerating chamber, and its direction of introduction. The cold air is supplied by a variable speed fan controlled so that in a first mode (cubic cooling) of cooling operation the amount of air supplied corresponds to the number of air inlet openings opened by the damper. In a second cooling mode (concentrated cooling), the damper is oriented to cause the air to be introduced into the refrigerating chamber in a specific direction where cooling is needed. In a third cooling mode (automatic swinging), the damper is oscillated while the cold air is being supplied.

  • Patent number: 5687580
Abstract: A refrigerator having a cool air path and a cool air discharge control blade for distributing cool air and controlling the discharge direction thereof and a method for controlling refrigerator temperature by controlling a cool air discharge direction are provided. By placing a disk-shaped cool air guiding portion in a discharge hole, cool air is rapidly and uniformly distributed via the cool air path and by low-speed rotation of the cool air discharge control blade, thus keeping the refrigerator at a predetermined temperature uniformly. Temperature sensors are installed on each side of the refrigeration compartment and the sensed average or representative temperatures are compared with a control reference temperature, so that cool air can be discharged to high temperature areas.

  • Patent number: 5666816
Abstract: There are described a defrosting method and apparatus of a refrigerator using a GA-fuzzy theory. The defrosting method comprises the steps of: inputting reference learning data by experiment and actual data to a microcomputer; inferring frost-quantity on an evaporator from the input data by using the GA-fuzzy theory; calculating a defrosting period from the frost amount; and controlling a defrosting heater depending on said defrosting period. According to the present invention, a refrigerator can be defrosted by calculating the frost-quantity on the evaporator with precision and accuracy even at an input function which has many inflexion points and is impossible to differentiate, which is different from the conventional defrosting method using the crisp's logical algorithm consisting of `0` and `1`.

  • Patent number: 5241502
Abstract: A data output buffer circuit includes a pair of data lines respectively applied with a noninverted data signal and an inverted data signal and an output gate circuit for gating the noninverted and inverted data signals in response to an output enable signal. A pull-up/pull-down NMOS transistor pair is connected in series between a first supply voltage and a ground voltage. A supply voltage converter circuit generates a constant second supply voltage so long as said first supply voltage is above a predetermined minimum level. A bootstrap circuit is precharged by the second supply voltage for driving the pull-up NMOS transistor with a boosted voltage level when the non-inverted data signal is a logic "HIGH" state.
