  • Patent number: 7943931
Abstract: A substrate includes an array area and a data pad area adjacent to the array area. A gate line, a data line and a switching device are formed in the array area of the substrate. A data pad extending from an end of the data line and a supporter provided between the substrate and the data pad are provided in a data pad area to allow the data pad to be placed at a higher position than a passivation layer. Thus, a contact resistance occurring between an anisotropic conductive film and a bump and a contact resistance occurring between the anisotropic conductive film and the data pad are reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100265435
Abstract: In a display apparatus according to an embodiment, a variable diffuser film is disposed between a backlight unit generating light and a display panel displaying an image. The variable diffuser film transmits or scatters the light from the backlight unit in response to an electrical signal to control a viewing angle. The variable diffuser film is disposed between the first and second transparent layers and includes a polymer layer in which liquid crystal molecules transmitting or scattering the light according to the electrical signal are dispersed. The polymer layer has a thickness of about 3 micrometers to about 15 micrometers, and the liquid crystal molecules have an anisotropic refractive index (?n) of about 0.15 to about 0.25. In one aspect, the display apparatus may automatically switch a narrow viewing angle mode and a wide viewing angle mode, thereby reducing power consumption necessary to switch the narrow and wide viewing angle modes.

  • Patent number: 7729056
Abstract: A light-condensing member includes a base plate, a main light-condensing pattern formed on the base plate, and a sub light-condensing pattern formed on the main light-condensing pattern. The main light-condensing pattern includes a plurality of main prisms extended in a first direction. The sub light-condensing pattern includes a plurality of sub prisms formed on the main prisms and extended in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. A cross section of a sub prism taken along the first direction has a substantially triangular shape. Since light is condensed simultaneously in both a horizontal direction and a vertical direction through one light-condensing member, manufacturing costs and the thickness of backlight assembly are reduced.

  • Patent number: 7528486
Abstract: In an anisotropic conductive film including conductive particles, and a bump, and a packaging structure of a semiconductor chip having the anisotropic conductive film and the bump, the anisotropic conductive film includes a resin layer and the conductive particles. The anisotropic conductive film electrically connects an electrode of a substrate and the bump of a semiconductor chip. A volume ratio of the conductive particles to the resin layer is about 0.1 to about 0.12. A number of the conductive particles per cubic millimeter (mm3) is about 4 millions to about 7 millions. A standard deviation of heights of the bumps is no more than about 0.25. An interval between each of the bumps and an electrode of the substrate is no more than about 1.3 ?m. Therefore, the size of each of the conductive particles is optimized so that a failure probability of the open circuit is decreased.
