  • Publication number: 20070083794
Abstract: A system and method is provided that rejuvenates a software application to reduce the effects of software aging. An active replica corresponding to a software application is identified. If rejuvenation of the software application is appropriate, a new replica is created and state information is transferred from the active replica to the new replica. In addition, client requests are redirected to the new replica. After the state data has been transferred and requests have been redirected, the active replica is terminated. Once the active replica has been terminated, the new replica becomes the active replica. When rejuvenation is again proper, another new replica is created and the state data is transferred from the new active replica to the new replica and requests are redirected to the new replica. This process repeats whenever rejuvenation of the application is needed.

  • Publication number: 20060028755
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for positioning a read/write head in a hard disk drive. The method comprises providing a disk having a at least one side with a plurality of tracks, where each of the tracks has a servo field with servo bits. The servo bits are read to provide a position signal for positioning a read/write head. The method determines a difference in position between an initial and a subsequent position of the read/write head on a track, where the subsequent location occurs after the read/write head has moved one revolution from the initial position on the track. The initial and subsequent positions are offset laterally. The method generates a compensation signal based on the initial position, the subsequent position and the difference. The position signal and the compensation signal are combined to provide a compensated position signal for positioning the read/write head. Various embodiments are described.

  • Publication number: 20050068984
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention relate to a low-cost network system that can reduce the network cost by connecting a base station controller (BSC) with a base transceiver station (BTS) by the use of matching units that match an E1/T1 line to an IP line. In one embodiment, the system comprises a BSC matching unit (BSCMU) and a BTS matching unit (BTSMU). The BSCMU, connected to the BSC through a first dedicated line, converts a first dedicated-line data signal, received from the BSC, into a first IP signal to be transmitted through an IP line and converts a received second IP signal into a second dedicated-line data signal to be transmitted to the BSC. The BTSMU, connected to the BTS through a second dedicated line, converts the first IP signal into the first dedicated-line data signal to be transmitted to the BTS and converts the second dedicated-line data signal, received from the BTS, into the second IP signal.

  • Patent number: 6731368
Abstract: In the typical LCD device, the ON/OFF inspection is performed by unit cell. However, in the case of the small size LCD device, since the liquid crystal cell substrate has many unit cells, the total inspection time is too long and the long handling time contributes to increasing the number of inferior cells. To solve these problems, the ON/OFF inspection of the liquid crystal cell for the small size LCD device having many unit cells is simultaneously performed for the entire liquid crystal cell substrate before cutting into the unit cells. Thus, the number of damaged cells during the inspection process and the process time can be reduced, and the yield can increase.
