    Abstract: The shift control method of an automatic transmission calculates a shift-pattern-adjusting coefficient using a modular neural network. The shift-pattern adjusting coefficient is based on a plurality of input signals input from a plurality of detectors. It is then determined if shifting is required based on an adjusted shift-pattern. The adjusted shift-pattern being adjusted based on the shift-pattern adjusting coefficient. A target shift-speed when shifting is required is calculated based on the adjusted shift-pattern. Finally, a shifting signal for shifting to the target shift-speed is generated.
