    Abstract: A method and system for performing an access procedure of a mobile communication terminal in a data communication system are disclosed. An exemplary method includes performing an access procedure with a network according to an established access type. The method then determines whether a failure of the access procedure has occurred. A counter value of an access control module is adjusted according to the determined result. Based on the magnitude of the adjusted counter value, the established access type may be abandoned, and another access type may be selected. Therefore, the access procedure suitable for the network environment is executed, such that the probability of success of the access procedure increases.
