  • Patent number: 6780285
Abstract: The invention concerns a loading device for the dewatering a web-forming wire, which supports and/or loads the wire of a paper machine and scrapes water from the wire surface. The loading device is loaded by a pressure medium and includes a movable loading member and a fixed base member. The loading member includes a longitudinal groove which extends the length of the loading member and the base member includes a slide rail adapted to be received in the longitudinal groove for supporting the loading member. In order to eliminate jamming phenomenon of the loading member, the loading member is supported evenly in its position in a cross machine direction and it is adapted to move towards the wire and away from the wire with aid of rollers arranged between the slide rail and the internal walls of the loading member which define the longitudinal groove.

  • Patent number: 6682632
Abstract: The invention relates to a roll for a paper or board machine comprising axle journals on whose support the roll is arranged to revolve, end flanges with which the axle journals are connected, and a mantle which is connected with the end flanges. The mantle is provided with a number of openings extending through the mantle and/or recesses formed into the outer surface of the mantle, which openings and/or recesses form a regular pattern. Solid connecting portions in the outer surface of the mantle around said openings and/or recesses are opened so that, from each opening and/or recess, there is a connection, provided in the form of a groove or an additional recess extending into the outer surface of the roll mantle, with at least each of the openings and/or recesses adjacent to it.

  • Patent number: 5660688
Abstract: A device and method for washing a wire in a paper or board machine including a wash-nozzle pipe arranged at one side of the wire for spraying a jet of a washing liquid such as water at the wire. At an opposite side of the wire, a suction device applies suction to draw mist arising from the washing of the wire. Directly alongside the suction device, at the same side of the wire, there is a blow device, through which a gas such as air is blown onto the face of the wire and through the wire to dry the wire and remove additional water, dirt and/or other impurities not removed by the suction device.

  • Patent number: 5573643
Abstract: A twin-wire web former in a paper machine, having a single-wire initial portion, after which a twin-wire zone starts in the area of a ribbed deck of a first forming shoe placed inside one of the wire loops. After the first forming shoe, a pressure-loaded dewatering unit is arranged and which includes opposite sets of ribs and dewatering chambers. A first dewatering chamber in the dewatering unit is placed above the first forming shoe so as to remove water that drains from the area of the curved ribbed deck of the first forming shoe through its suction-deflector duct. The first dewatering chamber is followed by a second dewatering chamber, whose lower part is connected with a set of dewatering and guide ribs having gap spaces into which a drain duct of the second dewatering chamber opens. Against the set of dewatering and guide ribs, a set of loading ribs operates, which is placed inside the opposite wire loop and which operates by means of the medium pressure of loading hoses.

  • Patent number: 5120401
Abstract: The invention is related to a device in a paper machine for collecting the mist that is produced in the spraying of high-pressure water employed in the washing of a wire. The device includes an inlet duct extending across the wire width. The central axis of the device is at an oblique angle in relation to the direction of running of the wire. The device includes a jet guide in connection with an inlet opening of the inlet duct. The jet guide is connected to the frame by means of adjusting members and operates as an air closure and as a regulator of suction capacity. The position of the jet guide can be adjusted relative the surface plane of the wire by means of the adjusting member.
