  • Patent number: 6633241
Abstract: A keypad arrangement for an electronic device comprises a keypad comprising activatable keys. It comprises also input signal means (801, 802, 901, 1001, 1601) for bringing an electric input signal to the keypad, and signal conversion means (703, 705, 807, 808, 809, 810, 811, 812, 813, 818, 1208, 1206) for responding to a key activation by selectively converting the input signal into an electric output signal the value of which depends on the activated key. Additionally there are output signal detection means (902, 903, 904, 1002, 1602) for detecting the value of the electric output signal. The arrangement comprises a first electromagnetic coupling (706, 708, 709, 710, 803) between the input signal means and the signal conversion means, and a second electromagnetic coupling (707, 711, 804) between the signal conversion means and the output signal detection means.

  • Patent number: 6506380
Abstract: The present invention provides method of making a protein hydrolysate formula and protein hydrolysate formulas made thereby for downregulating hypersensitivity and for promoting gut immune barrier, and methods of preventing or treating allergies, especially cow's milk allergy by combining the protein with probiotic gastrointestinal bacteria, especially Lactobacilli. The probiotics make it possible to influence the immunological balance, whereby allergy can be prevented by affecting the initiation mechanism of allergy. The present invention makes it possible to develop a person's tolerance of proteins by actively promoting a tolerogenic immune response. In addition, present invention provides for administering fragments of an allergen modified by probiotic gastrointestinal bacteria in order to desensitize a immune response to systemic hyporesponsiveness.

  • Publication number: 20020080122
Abstract: A keyboard having a plurality of first keys on one side and second keys on the other, separated by a circuit board and a plurality of domes. The circuit board can be activated for entering information in an electronic device by pressing one or more keys on either side via the domes. The keyboard can be fixedly mounted on the cover of the electronic device such that the first keys can be used when the cover is closed and the second keys can be used when the cover is open. The keyboard can also be removably mounted so as to allow a user to change the keyboard side to be used. Alternatively, one side of the keyboard has a touch pad instead of keys.

  • Publication number: 20020000976
Abstract: An electromechanical data input mechanism 200, 700, 750 comprises a first structural entity 210, 710, having a first surface 211 and a conductive coupling area 107 on said first surface, and a second structural entity 220, 720 having a second surface 212 located adjacent to said first surface and separated therefrom by a gap. It further comprises a dome-like member 102 adjacent to said conductive coupling area, and extending from the second surface, an actuator 105 adjacent to the dome-like member. The mechanism is characterized in that within an pressing area elastic properties of the second structural entity are substantially uniform and said first and second structural entities are kept apart from each other solely through the dome-like members, and said first and second structural entities are arranged to move with respect to each other so that under the influence of a force pressing them towards each other, the actuator moves towards the dome-like member.

  • Patent number: 5858690
Abstract: The present invention comprises a simple way of identifying the tendency towards allergy or allergy already broken out, and showing the probability of allergy in a patient, by measuring the receptor expression of the phagocytic cells of peripheral blood. With a logistic regression model a combination of variables were found which best describe the probability of allergy. Thus the invention relates to a method for detecting allergy and a test kit for accomplishing the method. The invention also relates to a sensitive and specific logistic model for determining the probability of allergy.

  • Patent number: 5746205
Abstract: The working quality of the human brain is measured with this method and apparatus by determining the highest frequency at which a subject can discriminate between synchronous and asynchronous pairs of two simultaneously presented periodic non-verbal stimuli: the higher this frequency (synchronism threshold) is the faster the brain of the subject can process information using the sensory function tested. The periodic stimuli provided to the subject and preceded by appropriate mask stimuli may be pairs of visual, tactile, electrocutaneous, and/or auditory stimuli within the same sense modality, or intermodal between two different senses. The apparatus generates the stimuli and indicates the nominal frequencies of the stimuli and threshold. The frequency threshold is determined by means of an adaptive staircase procedure in which the frequency is decreased after wrong responses and increased after correct responses.
