  • Patent number: 6679387
Abstract: Roll set for handling, particularly screening and spreading, different materials such as wood chips and shavings, the roll set including at least two parallel-mounted, rotatable rolls, whereby the interroll gaps are adapted to pass the material being handled and at least a number of the rolls are provided with a surface patterning. The roll set is implemented by providing at least some of the rolls of the roll set with at least one collar ring made thereto in an annular manner essentially about the entire circumference of the roll. The collar ring has an outer diameter advantageously at least as large as the outer diameter of the other surface patterning made on the roll.

  • Patent number: 6206069
Abstract: The present invention is related to a method of surfacing at least one wide side of a board-like substrate, in which method at least one wide side of the substrate board and at least one sheet or web of the surfacing material are placed opposing each other. In the method, the surfacing material (1) and the board-like object (2) of the substrate material are transferred into a positioning station so that the at least one aligned edge of the surfacing material (1) and the board-like substrate (2), respectively, are made to desiredly overlap or underlap the respective edge of the opposed element surface, or alternatively, that at least one of said edges is placed essentially aligned with other respective edge of the opposed element surface, irrespective of the initial position or alignment of the surfacing material (1) and/or the board-like substrate (2) to be transferred into the positioning station.

  • Patent number: 5961065
Abstract: A method for winding a web onto a spool at least partially supported on a support roll in which the web passes through a nip formed between the support roll and a roll formed by the web winding on the spool. The roll being formed is loaded and/or supported by at least one loading/supporting unit which is/are displaced during initial winding stages in a direction substantially in a plane passing through a central axis of the support roll and a central axis of the roll being formed. • Patent number: 5094394
Abstract: A method and a device for threading the end of a web (P) from a jumbo roll (30) or equivalent through a winder along a path determined by members guiding the web (P). The end of the web (P) is passed from the jumbo roll (30) through the winder as a full width by grasping the end of the web (P) placed on the jumbo roll by means of a fetching and grasping device (13) and is held by means of the web (P) holding device (13). The web (P) is detached from the fetching and grasping device (11), attached to a threading member (22) carried by a carrier device (12), detached from the web (P) holding device (13), and threaded as a single thickness through the winder, whereby web (P) is unwound from the jumbo roll (30). The web (P) is cut off before the web (P) is attached to the threading member (22) carried by the carrier device (12).

  • Patent number: 4921183
Abstract: Method and device for the reeling of a web. The web is reeled by supporting an outer circumference of the roll being formed with at least two supporting units. A first such unit in a direction of arrival of the web is a carrier roll provided with a mechanical rotating drive over which the web is passed to reeling. The carrier roll forms a reeling nip supporting the roll from below. A press roll is situated above the roll being formed so that the roll being wound is stably maintained in reeling position. The roll is wound about a core in a nip support between the carrier roll, a belt roll, and the upper press roll. When the roll is wound and increased, the reeling continues the nip support by the carrier roll and the upper press roll, and additionally, on a belt supporting zone situated as a direct extension of the support zone of the belt roll.

  • Patent number: 4883233
Abstract: Method for controlling the reeling of a web, in which the radius and/or any other corresponding quantity of the roll that is being formed, is measured by means of detectors with the signals thereof being passed to a control system. Adjusting signals controlled by roll diameter data measured on the basis of table and/or functional data stored in a memory of the control system for different radii of the roll, are formed in the control system by which a belt carrying member is controlled, this member being situated on an adjoining quadrant of the roll being would relative to a carrier roll. The supporting linear load of this belt carrying member is controlled by adjusting the tensioning of the supporting belt. The steps of the present method are carried out so that a suitable distribution of linear load in a reeling nip is carried into effect and so that the supporting and carrying linear loads of the roll being wound remain within preset limits.

  • Patent number: 4842209
Abstract: A web (P) is wound onto a core (17) while supported by a first carrier roll (11) and by a second carrier roll (12) and while a press roll (14) presses the web reel (13) that is being wound. The second carrier roll (12) is a carrier roll consisting of a set of belt rolls. The complete web reel is removed by means of a lowering device (15). During the lowering movement of the reel, a new core (17) is shifted into the gap between the first carrier roll (11) and the second carrier roll (12). The web (P) is cut off, and the cut-off end of the web (P) is attached to the core. The winding is slowed down to the exchange speed, nonstop, or to a stop, and the press roll (14) is raised off the complete reel (13) and shifted rearwards relative the complete reel (13). The set (12) of belt rolls is displaced in the lateral direction, and a new core (17) is shifted into the space defined the first carrier roll (11), the first roll (18) in the set (12) of belt rolls, and the complete reel (13).

  • Patent number: 4746076
Abstract: In a winder device for winding a moving web, such as paper or cardboard web, to form a roll of considerable weight, the roll is carried by support members giving it peripheral support. The support members comprise a rotatable winder drum, transmitting the web to the roll, and a movable support web device. The support members are arranged to form the main support of the roll. The support web device includes a support web having a portion between two rotatable support elements and this support web portion has a roll supporting surface of contact with the roll. The surface of contact is continuously enlarged when said roll grows, in order to eliminate the risk of roll damages due to excess support pressure when winding heavy rolls.
