  • Patent number: 5103221
Abstract: A security system has a remote-control unit, a receiving unit and an operating unit connected to the receiving unit and designed to perform a security function. The remote-control unit comprises a keyboard, an encoder and a transmitter. The encoder is programmed with an algorithm and a base code and, in response to consecutive actuations of the keyboard, operates consecutively with the algorithm, beginning from the base code, to generate a series of modified codes. The encoder also produces a corresponding series of encoded signals containing the base code and a respective modified code. The encoded signals are sent to the receiving unit by the transmitter. The receiving unit includes a receiver for the signals and a decoder which is activated in response to an incoming signal. The decoder is programmed with the same algorithm and base code as the encoder and, similarly to the encoder, generates a series of modified codes in response to consecutive incoming signals.

  • Patent number: 4933610
Abstract: A motor vehicle has a power roof which can either rotate between a first open position and a closed position or translate between a second open position and the closed position. An electric motor for opening and closing the roof operates from a battery of the vehicle and is connected to the battery by a circuit which can be closed by either of two switches. When the roof is closed, activation of one switch causes the roof to open by rotation while activation of the other switch causes the the roof to open by translation. When the the roof is in an open position, activation of the switch other than that which caused the roof to assume such position effects closing of the roof. The vehicle is equipped with a security system which also operates from the battery and, upon activation, sends a signal to the circuit connecting the motor to the battery.

  • Patent number: 4884055
Abstract: An antitheft vehicle protection system has a remote control unit with which separate messages can be sent to a vehicle mounted protection device. The protection device, a portion of which is placed in a favorable location inside the vehicle such as near a windshield, monitors a variety of vehicle conditions such as the status of door locks, the status of an engine operation control circuit, the insertion of an ignition key and the integrity of the power circuit leading to the antitheft system. One of the messages is decoded as representative of a robbery in progress when certain other alarm conditions such as an open driver's door and a running engine exist. The other message is decoded as representative of a panic condition. Both messages can result in audible alarms. In case of the alarm indicative of a robbery in progress, a delay is interposed to enable a sufficient distance between driver and robber to be achieved before an alarm condition such as an engine lock out is established.

  • Patent number: 4802378
Abstract: A bowden cable wherein an intermediate section of the tubular casing is replaced with or an end portion of the casing is constituted by a hollow insert containing a motor for a blocking element which is movable relative to the insert and, when moved to an operative position, prevents an abutment on and hence the wire of the bowden cable from moving axially. The bowden cable is then inoperative, i.e., the wire cannot transmit motion to a lever or to another movable component which holds the hood, the trunk or another mobile part of a motor vehicle in a predetermined (e.g. closed) position.

  • Patent number: 4733215
Abstract: Apparatus for automatic and semiautomatic remote control of an antitheft protection device of a property is provided. In the automatic embodiment, the apparatus includes a portable transmitter actuated through an encoder, which is programmed for controlling the continuous transmission of message signals timed one from the other at much longer intervals than the message length. The apparatus further includes a receiver having a decoder for matching the signals sent by the transmitter, and as a consequence, controlling the disconnection of the protection device when the message is received and to control connection of the device upon stopping of the reception of the programmed codified signals. The device is thereby operated automatically when a person carrying the transmitter moves away from or approaches the property.
