  • Patent number: 5176390
Abstract: A flexible protective bellows for enclosing a universal joint of a vehicle transmission is designed so that alternate folds are of different shape from the intervening ones. This reduces wear between the peaks of adjacent folds when the bellows is compressed. The troughs are formed with loops to reduce wear when the bellows is stretched. Various means for securing the bellows in its fixing groove in the housing of the universal joint are also disclosed as are means for incorporating a toothed ring for use in speed measurement for the vehicle's ABS system.

  • Patent number: 4927678
Abstract: Disclosed is a protective bellows of polymer material of the thermoplastic, silicon, etc. type, particularly for a motor vehicle front wheel drive. It has a profile which includes a conical part (5) fastened to the bowl (3) of the transmission, extended on the opposite side by a cylindrical part (7) whose free end is fixed with the wheel side of the drive shaft (4).

  • Patent number: 4556399
Abstract: A bellows having, at one of an end thereof a small fold intended to provide a complement of the volume of the bellows at the large angular clearances of the drive shaft, to one of which the bellows is connected by a sleeve with a small diameter. The small fold works with an intermediate fold and a large fold by the interposition of a first cylindrical zone that flares out toward the intermediate fold along a radius of curvature. The large fold is fastened on the second element of the drive of greater diameter by via a second cylindrical zone.

  • Patent number: 4135562
Abstract: An arrangement for filling and venting a safety fuel tank of the type characterized by two elastomer sheets joined at their peripheries, for use in automobiles, wherein a venting tube is disposed in the upper region of the tank with one of its ends inserted in a spout situated at the top of the tank where gases tend to accumulate and the other end opening into the upper part of the filler pipe of the tank just below an auto-blocking valve having an orifice therein for receiving a pump nozzle for filling the tank, and wherein a movable plate is provided for normally blocking the valve orifice.

  • Patent number: 4134416
Abstract: A safety device for blocking a fuel line leading from an automobile gas tank having an outer elongate sleeve passing through the wall of the gas tank and having a lateral hole therein opening into the gas tank, and a tubular assembly slidable within the sleeve. The tubular assembly features a lateral opening which, at a given position of the assembly within the sleeve, opens through the lateral opening in the sleeve into the gas tank. The tubular assembly has a stop at one end limiting its movement toward the outside of the gas tank by engagement with the sleeve and has a peripheral constriction at one point for breaking during a violent collision, whereby the openings in the sleeve and the tubular assembly are not aligned and fuel cannot escape from the gas tank during such collisions.
