  • Publication number: 20230208211
Abstract: Various example embodiments relate to enhancing excitation and output power in multi-transmitter wireless power transfer system. Transmitter coils are arranged such that they are substantially uncoupled from each other. The transmitter coils are activated one by one to measure induced voltage across adjacent transmitter coils. The induced voltages are used to determine mutual inductance ratios of transmitter-receiver pairs to obtain current distribution coefficients indicative of the position of the receiver for optimal excitation. A device, a method, and a computer program are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20230097704
Abstract: The disclosure relates to suppressing surface waves in a communication device for a wireless communication system. The communication device includes a dielectric layer extending along a plane between a chassis and a glass layer, an antenna element configured to emit a radio wave, and a retroreflective structure extending inside the dielectric layer and being located adjacent to the antenna element, and where the retroreflective structure is configured to reflect the radio wave in an angle non-parallel to the plane. The retroreflective structure hence prevents parasitic channeling of the antenna energy into surface waves in and behind the glass layer and directs the radiation into the desired direction.

  • Patent number: 7683737
Abstract: A phase shifting method and a phase shifter are provided. The phase shifter comprises a first (200) and a second (202) transmission line structure in parallel, the structures having a common input, each structure comprising cascaded forward and backward transmission lines and the same number of components. The component values of the second structure are equal to the component values of the first structure multiplied by a given proportionality constant.

  • Patent number: 7471247
Abstract: An antenna array includes a plurality of antenna unit cells, a ground plane, and at least one artificial magnetic layer AML unit cell. At least one AML unit cell is disposed between at least two adjacent ones of the antenna unit cells. The AML unit cells include a pair of split ring resonators through a ring dielectric layer, and the resonators are capacitively coupled to the a ground plane of the antenna array through a capacitor dielectric layer. The resonators are orthogonal to one another and to the ground plane, and more than one pair may be defined in each AML unit cell. Magnetic energy from the antenna unit cells induces an electric field in the resonators, and the resulting magnetic field is strongly coupled to the AML unit cell to inhibit mutual coupling between radiating elements by suppression of surface wave propagation.

  • Publication number: 20080136710
Abstract: An apparatus includes a number of electrically conductive spaced apart elements, and a ground plane situated at least partially in a space between at least two of the electrically conductive spaced apart elements. The apparatus further includes one or more wire media situated over at least a portion of and coupled to the ground plane, the one or more wire media situated at least partially in the space between the at least two electrically conductive spaced apart elements. Radiating elements may be used as the electrically conductive spaced apart elements to create an antenna. Such an antenna and apparatus may also include a conductive mesh, connecting tips of the pins (also called “wires”) of the wire medium. The wire medium and the conductive mesh can reduce coupling between the electrically conductive spaced apart elements (e.g., radiating elements). The apparatus can be formed at least in part in a semiconductor.

  • Publication number: 20050275593
Abstract: In an RF antenna having a planar radiating element disposed adjacent to a ground plane, one or more metasolenoids are disposed between the radiating element and the ground plane. As such, the magnetic flux through the metasolenoids interacts with the radiating element and the ground plane, widening the bandwidth of the antenna. Each of the metasolenoid comprises a stack of split-ring resonators co-axially aligned. The gap in each split-ring resonator is oriented differently from the gap in the adjacent split-ring resonator. The use of metasolenoids disposed between the radiating element and the ground plane does not increase the volume of the radiating element.
