Abstract: A contactless connector includes a housing having a mating interface configured to be coupled to a connector interface of an electronic device. A connector communication module is held at least partially within the housing and is operable in a transmit mode and/or a receive mode of operation. The connector communication module is configured to wirelessly communicate with a device communication module of the electronic device to wirelessly transfer at least one of data or power between the connector communication module of the contactless connector and the device communication module of the electronic device. An optical contacting element is held by the housing. The optical contacting element is configured to optically contact an optical contacting element of the electronic device such that the housing is mechanically connected to the electronic device with the connector communication module configured to wirelessly communicate with the device communication module.
