  • Publication number: 20260192884
Abstract: The present invention relates to planing boats and is intended to reduce hydrodynamic resistance and improve efficiency of such boats in displacement and transitional motion modes by means of transom fairings that do not compromise the operation of boats in the main planing mode and at rest, which is achieved by using special designs of sectionalized foldable retractable fairings consisting of at least two adjacent parts arranged aft of the transom successively lengthwise, when in the lower operational position of the fairing corresponding to the displacement and transitional modes, while the more aft of which is made movable relative to the more forward one and thereby can be folded into a more forward position, which reduces the length of the fairing and the boat as a whole when the fairing is retracted into the upper inactive position, corresponding to the main high-speed planing mode or rest.

  • Publication number: 20260035071
Abstract: An aerial and preferably marine vehicle intended to operate in its principal mode near the surface of water or land employing the Wing-in-Ground Effect (WIG) and capable to take-off and land vertically (VTOL) by means of thrust vectoring, which vehicle has a wing arranged at the lowermost part of the fuselage, propulsion units comprising four rotatable pylons extending transversely in pairs on both sides of the upper part of the fuselage, four elongated nacelles mounted on the outer tips of said pylons, which nacelles contain electric motors (E) and provided with propellers at their extremities, so that the rotation of the pylons results in turning the nacelles and thrust of propellers from substantially vertical, ensuring take-off and landing, to substantially horizontal providing a flight mode, retractable hydroskis for emergency landing on water, while said propulsion units and said wing are spaced apart vertically and horizontally and do not overlap.

  • Publication number: 20260021869
Abstract: Method and apparatus of various embodiments of a planing boat or vehicle supported by a system of three cambered planing surfaces, comprising two transversely set apart forward surfaces generating on their inner edges two counter-rotating tip vortices resulting in an ascending flow further aft downstream of the gap between these two forward surfaces, and one center aft surface, which sections are displaced higher vertically and inclined nose-dive relatively sections of the forward surfaces by the height and slope angle of the ascending flow at their location, so that the angles of deadrise and moduli of negative angles of inclination of the aft surface gradually increase along the span from the center plane outwards, embodying in special angular and spatial relative arrangement of said three planing surfaces and configuration of the aft surface with its half-planes curved upwards and twisted downwards in a substantially hyperbolic manner.

  • Publication number: 20260001620
Abstract: Method and apparatus of various embodiments of a hydrodynamic design of planing boat or vehicle employing two substantially dihedral planing surfaces featuring cambered hydrodynamic profiles with their base lines, positioned successively along length of the boat and comprising a forward planing surface of swept back plan form and an aft planing surface, which, in order to match conformally the disturbance of water surface generated by the forward planing surface, specifically configured and arranged spatially and angularly relatively the forward planing surface, so that within each vertical longitudinal plane a section of aft planing surface is displaced vertically and its base line is turned relatively the base line of corresponding section of the forward planing surface within the same vertical longitudinal plane by the height and angle of the wave trough generated by the forward planing surface at the location of said section of aft planing surface.

  • Publication number: 20080018115
Abstract: An apparatus configured to convert kinetic energy of water flow to electrical power. The apparatus includes an axial turbine that is designed to be submerged under a water surface and a shaft that extends from the axial turbine. The shaft is designed to extend above the water surface and provide buoyancy. The apparatus may be designed such that a waterline area of the apparatus is less than a predetermined multiplier times the displacement of the apparatus divided by the length of a wave having a low probability of occurring. In a particular case, the predetermined multiplier may be approximately five and the wave having a low probability may be a characteristic wave of approximately 3% probability. A plurality of such apparatuses may be arranged in a plurality of rows defining a system, such that an upstream apparatus does not overlap a downstream apparatus in projection to a plane transverse to the water flow.
