Patent number: 9356415Abstract: A laser safety control system is configured with a power source module directly coupled to an AC source and including a galvanically isolated DC/DC converter with at least one output capacitor, and a safety mechanism. The safety mechanism has first and second safety channels which operate independently from one another so as to switch the normal operating regime of the power source module to the safe regime. In the normal operating regime, its DC output has a high voltage, whereas in the safe regime the DC output has a low voltage lower than the high voltage. The safety channels each include a shutdown circuit operative to switch the DC/DC converter off and a discharging circuit operative to discharge the output capacitor. The switching off DC/DC converter and discharging of the output capacitor define the safe regime of the power source module.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2015Date of Patent: May 31, 2016Assignee: IPG PHOTONICS CORPORATIONInventors: Valentyn Volodin, Sergey Guskov

Patent number: 8724669Abstract: A power supply for laser systems is configured with a DC power source having an output source voltage, an energy accumulator operatively connected to the output of the DC power source, and a pump. Coupled between the accumulator and source is a first DC to DC stage with at least one switched-mode power converter which is operative to charge the accumulator with voltage. The charged voltage may be same or different from the source voltage. The power supply further includes a second DC to DC stage with at least one switched-mode power converter coupled between the accumulator and pump and operative to discharge accumulator to the same or different output voltage. The DC to DC converters are configured so that current pulses at the input of the pump each have a peak value greater than the power source current.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2011Date of Patent: May 13, 2014Assignee: IPG Photonics CorporationInventor: Sergey Guskov

Publication number: 20060124764Abstract: A system and related methods for configuring and monitoring a spraying application system for installation and use at a site that is remotely located from the spraying system manufacturing site. The system provides a remote access module that provides spraying system operation and parametric information to be monitored at the manufacturing site to determine how the spraying system is operating and whether repair or maintenance should be initiated. Timer circuits are provided for determining time of usage so that repair/replacement alerts can be issued. Safety related parameters may also be monitored as a backup to the primary monitoring performed at the customer's site. The system also provides an extranet or other suitable site available, for example, via the Internet or other communication link, is used to provide an accessible database for historical data and configuration/installation information. A call-in feature is also provided as well as a system query log.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2006Publication date: June 15, 2006Inventors: Sergey Guskov, Robert Allsop, Ronald McMahon

Patent number: 6942162Abstract: A system and related methods for configuring and monitoring a spraying application system for installation and use at a site that is remotely located from the spraying system manufacturing site. The system provides a configuration module that allows a customer or purchaser to configure a system electronically based on the customer's spraying needs. The selected configuration may further be linked to a pricing and inventory database module to allow the customer to order the system components, and obtain price and delivery schedules. In one embodiment, the configuration module is available to the customer via a secure web site over the Internet provided by a server accessed from a computer such as a personal computer at the customer's site. The system also provides a remote access module that provides spraying system operation and parametric information to be monitored at the manufacturing site to determine how the spraying system is operating and whether repair or maintenance should be initiated.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2001Date of Patent: September 13, 2005Assignee: Nordson CorporationInventors: Sergey Guskov, Robert J. Allsop, Ronald E. McMahon

Publication number: 20040011901Abstract: A plurality of unconventional negative tribo-charging materials are described for use as the powder contact surfaces in tribocharging and corona powder spray guns, gun components, and powder delivery system components. The invention also provides a short barrel tribo-charging powder spray gun having an interchangeable powder contact insert and nozzle, with turbulence inducing air jets. The invention further provides novel tribocharging and corona gun designs. Improved powder coating systems are made possible wherein, for example, negative tribo guns can be utilized with negative corona guns to coat different parts of the same workpiece in a powder coating system.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 14, 2003Publication date: January 22, 2004Inventors: William R. Rehman, Harry J. Lader, James W. Messerly, Gerald W. Crum, Alan J. Knobbe, Michael Ross Sanner, Sergey Guskov
