Patent number: 12075326Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for enhancement of network slicing for a UE. A UE may receive, from an AMF of a network, application related information associated with network slice data routing for data associated with an application. The information may be provided to the network by network slice customers. The UE may, in response to application initiation, determine traffic routing for data associated with the application. Traffic routing may be based on the application related information and a UE configuration associated with user privacy (e.g., user privacy setting) associated with the application. When the user UE configuration is enabled, the data may be routed via a default network slice and when the UE configuration is disabled, the data may be routed via a network slice indicated by the application related information. The UE configuration may be indicated by the application via a Boolean flag and/or via a user interface setting.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 2020Date of Patent: August 27, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Sree Ram Kodali, Ahmed M. Patent number: 11889589Abstract: A communications network may be used to convey Short Message Service (SMS) messages using the Internet Protocol (IP). User equipment may transmit an SMS-over-IP Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) message to wireless equipment over a high-bandwidth communications link. The wireless equipment may route the SMS-over-IP SIP message to the ePDG. When the high-bandwidth link is unavailable, the user equipment may transmit a compressed message to the proxy server over a low-bandwidth communications link. The proxy server may convert the compressed message into an SMS-over-IP SIP message that is transmitted to the ePDG. The proxy server may serve as a proxy for the first user equipment from the perspective of the ePDG. This may allow SMS message data to continue to be conveyed through the communications network even when the high-bandwidth communications link becomes unavailable.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2022Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Gahima S. Patent number: 11553561Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for performing Wi-Fi authentication in a wireless communication system. Public key cryptography may be used to enhance the confidentiality of the user's permanent identity in transit. In some embodiments, a RSA-OAEP(SHA-256) encryption scheme may be used to protect the permanent identity when the EAP client needs to send the user's permanent identity to the server in the absence of pseudonym or fast re-authentication identity. Patent number: 10595252Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for performing seamless voice call handover and data handoff between a cellular network and a non-cellular (e.g., Wi-Fi) network, by a link budget limited user equipment device (UE) in standalone mode. The cellular radio may be maintained in a non-communication mode when not in use, to prevent power and peak power issues that may be unique to link budget limited devices. In response to poor non-cellular performance in support of a voice call, the UE may transition the cellular radio from the non-communication state to an online state. If the cellular network indicates that packet-switched calls are supported, then the UE may initiate handover of the voice call to the cellular network. Various methods for seamless handoff of data communications are also disclosed, in both the presence and the absence of a voice call. Various metrics are disclosed to enhance handoff determinations.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2018Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Ajoy K. Singh, Najeeb M.
