  • Patent number: 6329471
Abstract: A carboxyl group-containing fluorine copolymer is produced safely at a low cost by treating a vinylidene fluoride copolymer with a base and a peroxide, preferably in the presence of a phase-transfer catalyst such as a quaternary ammonium salt or a quaternary phosphonium salt.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 19, 1999
Date of Patent: December 11, 2001
    Assignee: Nippon Mektron Limited

  • Patent number: 6294627
Abstract: A fluorocarbon polymer which includes: repeating units derived from one or more perfluorinated ethers of the formula CF2═CFO—(CF2)m—(O(CF2)p)n—ORf1 wherein Rf1 is a perfluorinated (C1-C4)alkyl group, m=1-4, n=0-6, and p=1-2; and repeating units derived from vinylidene fluoride; wherein the polymer has a glass transition temperature of −50° C. or lower and an oxygen to carbon ratio of at least about 0.2.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 1999
Date of Patent: September 25, 2001
    Assignee: Dyneon LLC

  • Patent number: 6174928
Abstract: A fluorinated oligomer having COOH groups at both end and a &rgr;50° value of 1,000 to 10,000 is produced by swelling a fluorine rubber crosslinking product in an organic solvent, followed by decomposition in the presence of a base and a peroxide. The obtained fluorinated oligomer is soluble in solvent and thus easy to separate from fillers, etc., and can be effectively used as a chain-elongating agent for epoxy resin, isocyanate resin, oxazoline resin, etc.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 26, 1999
Date of Patent: January 16, 2001

  • Patent number: 5739233
Abstract: Low molecular weight copolymers of vinylidene fluoride with fluorinated comonomers having ester functionality are curable at low temperatures to produce elastomers useful as components of heat and corrosion resistant sealants and protective coatings.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 12, 1996
Date of Patent: April 14, 1998
Assignee: E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company

  • Patent number: 5719259
Abstract: Perfluoroalkylene oxide copolymer having acid fluoride moieties are prepared by reaction of hexafluoropropylene oxide and 1,2-epoxypentafluoropropane 3-fluorosulfate in the presence of a cesium alkoxide initiator. The copolymers may be cured at room temperature and are useful in sealant and coating formulations. Derivatives of the copolymers containing ester, amide, nitrile, and ether moieties are also disclosed.
