  • Patent number: 4743631
Abstract: Adhesion promoters for metal substrates for paints cross-linkable with U.V. or E.B. radiations or with peroxides of general formula: ##STR1## (wherein R, m and n have the meaning which we will specify in the disclosure), obtained by means of the reaction of glycidyl acrylate and/or glycidyl methacrylate with dihydrophosphonoacetic acid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 6, 1985
Date of Patent: May 10, 1988
    Assignee: Enichem Sintesi S.p.A.
Inventors: Alberto Greco, Renato Butturini, Sergio Arrighetti
  • Patent number: 4145378
Abstract: Novel thermoplastic materials can be obtained in which besides the resin formed by polymerizing alkenylaromatic with or without acrylic and vinylic monomers, there is also a branched interpolymer the main carbon atom chain of which has a saturated elastomeric nature, whereas the chains which make up the branch-offs have a plastic character. Side-chains on the saturated rubber, which have the same composition as the non-grafted resin, favors the even dispersion of the rubber in the resin matrix so that the physical and mechanical properties of the resin are considerably improved: an improved resistance to ageing is also achieved. A styrene-acrylonitrile resin grafted on a saturated ethylene-propylene copolymer is but an example. The preparation process is carried out in solution: critical conditions, additives, adjuvants, initiators and promoters are indicated and exemplified. Irradiation with ultraviolet rays may be of help.
    Type: Grant

Inventors: Sergio Arrighetti, Aldo Brancaccio, Sebastiano Cesca, Giampaolo Giuliani
  • Patent number: 4127617
Abstract: Improved shock-resistant resins are obtained by graft-copolymerizing a monomer selected from among alkenyl aromatics, vinylics, acrylics, their halogenated derivatives or admixtures of same, with maleic anhydride and/or an imide derivative of such anhydride and with a terpolymer composed by ethylene, a higher homolog of ethylene and a polyene having at least one system of conjugated double bonds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 20, 1976
Date of Patent: November 28, 1978
    Assignee: Anic, S.p.A.

  • Patent number: 4113694
Abstract: A method is described whereby olefin terpolymers, consisting of ethylene, an alpha olefin and a polyene having in the molecule, in addition to the double bond participating in the formation of the macromolecule, at least one conjugated double bond system, are stabilized against oxidative aging without destroying their characteristic high vulcanization rate by reacting them with a dienophilic agent represented by one of the following formulae: ##STR1## wherein R and R.sub.6 may be an alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl radical having up to 8 carbon atoms, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 may be hydrogen or akyl, aryl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl radicals having up to 8 carbon atoms, the R.sub.1 -R.sub.2 and R -R pairs may be divalent radicals forming condensed rings.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 12, 1978
    Assignee: Snam Progetti, S.p.A.
Inventors: Sergio Arrighetti, Sebastiano Cesca, Giuseppe Ghetti, Eugenio Vajna

  • Patent number: 3966844
Abstract: A polymeric material having high impact resistance and improved resistance to ageing is prepared by grafting monomers such as acrylonitrile and styrene upon a rubbery terpolymer of ethylene, an alpha-olefin such as propylene and a triene termonomer such as 2-(1' or 2' or 3' methyl-1' or 2' or 3' cyclopenta-2' or 4' dienyl) norborn-5-enyl-methane, containing from 0.1 to 20 pairs of conjugate double bonds per thousand carbon atoms in the polymer chain.
