  • Publication number: 20120231742
Abstract: An interference coordination method for a radio communication system includes a plurality of user equipment configured to communicate on radio resources with transceiver stations exchanging between transceiver stations one or more coordination messages concerning interference on an interfered radio resource, and determining a score of a potential allocation of the interfered radio resource to potentially-interfered user equipment based on said coordination message or messages.

  • Patent number: 8189523
Abstract: A method of managing radio resources of a radio communications network, includes: upon receiving a new service request for a service to be provided, assessing whether there are radio resources of a first set, adapted to and available for satisfying the request, and: in the affirmative case, exploiting the available radio resources for satisfying the new service request; in the negative case: calculating an amount of the adapted radio resources to be set free for satisfying the service request; assessing whether there is at least one first already served service request that, at the time the new service request is received, is being served using the calculated amount of radio resources of the first set, and that can continue to be served by assigning thereto radio resources of a second set, different from the first set, not adapted to serving the new serving request; in the affirmative case: calculating an amount of the radio resources of the second set necessary for serving the at least one already served ser

  • Patent number: 8064915
Abstract: A method for providing telecommunications services in an environment in which a plurality of telecommunications systems operate according to different standards (WLAN, UMTS) and are reachable from a terminal (T) in an integrated manner, wherein at least one of said services can be provided by more systems. Upon the provision request for the above-cited service, the method according to the invention envisages the steps of: —verifying the availability for the provision of the requested service, of at least a first (WLAN) and a second (UMTS) system, and —selecting, in an automatic and dynamic way, one between at least said first (WLAN) and said second (UMTS) system for the provision of the service being requested.

  • Publication number: 20100159841
Abstract: A method for characterizing interference in a radio communication system including a plurality of user equipment communicating with transceiver stations, includes: determining quantities indicative of interference (attenuation or power) experienced by a transceiver station interfered by interfering user equipment; and exchanging between transceiver stations information based on these quantities and concerning interference from the interfering user equipment. In particular, the user equipment is in communication with respective serving transceiver stations, and exchanging includes sending from the serving transceiver stations to the interfered transceiver stations information concerning interference from user equipment served by the serving transceiver stations and interfering with the interfered transceiver stations. The method further includes grouping, by the serving transceiver station, the interfering user equipment according to a given grouping criterion in order to form groups thereof.

  • Publication number: 20100097948
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for characterizing interference in a radio communication system including a plurality of radio transceiver stations configured to communicate with user equipments, the method including: measuring, by a user equipment in radio communication with a serving transceiver station, quantities indicative of interference from interfering transceiver stations; sending the measured quantities to the serving transceiver station; associating at least one codebook with the serving transceiver station, the codebook including a number of codewords each representing a respective quantized interference situation in an area covered by the serving transceiver station; and identifying in the codebook a codeword representative of the quantities measured by the user equipment.

  • Patent number: 7596377
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for planning networks for mobile terminals that use a radio interface based on the Code Division Multiple Access or CDMA technique. More particularly, the system and method provide a step 500 whereby the Service Areas in these networks can be calculated using, as a reference, Domains calculated by means of a step 300 on the basis of real propagation models and taking a predetermined or estimated traffic into account on a pixel by pixel basis. In addition, the system and method make it possible to calculate the Macrodiversity Areas by means of a step 700, and thus to take the areas in which mobile terminals are capable of exchanging information with more than one radio base station into account at the planning step.

  • Patent number: 7107049
Abstract: A system and related device emulates the behavior of mobile networks independently from the manner of collecting data about the behavior of the network obtained through a simulation of field measurements. The system emulates the behavior of the network during the exchange of information between terminals and uses an emulation device comprising two circuit blocks. The first is able to process the information according to time sequences corresponding to those of mobile networks. The second one exchanges information between the terminals connected to suitable interfaces. This architecture makes it possible to emulate uplink and downlink functions of the mobile network, displaying on the terminals the effects of the behavior of the network under various operating conditions.
