Patent number: 4569043Abstract: An arrangement for interfacing the originating time stage (OTS) and terminating time stage (TTS) of a time and control unit (TCU) to the space stage of T-S-T digital switching system. The space stage includes an intra-path through the space stage as well as an interpath. The interface transmits PCM samples simultaneously from the OTS to both the intra and interpaths of the space stage. PCM samples from the space stage are received by an intra buffer and an inter buffer from the intra path and inter path respectively. A TCU control memory gates and connects either the intra buffer or inter buffer to the TTS.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1985Date of Patent: February 4, 1986Assignee: GTE Automatic Electric Inc.Inventors: Nathaniel Simmons, Sergio E. Puccini, Stig E. Magnusson, Kamal I. Parikh

Patent number: 4524442Abstract: A space stage for a T-S-T digital switching system is shown arranged into four identical space stage units (SSU). Each SSU is arranged into modular functional elements. The elements are combined in each SSU to allow the space stage to grow modularly, interconnecting from thirty-two to sixty-four originating time and terminating time stages.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1983Date of Patent: June 18, 1985Assignee: GTE Automatic Electric Inc.Inventors: Nathaniel Simmons, Sergio E. Puccini, Stig E. Magnusson, Kanal I. Parikh

Patent number: 4520478Abstract: A space stage for a T-S-T digital switching system is shown arranged to interconnect the originating time stages (OTS) and terminating time stages (TTS) of a first time group and the OTS's and TTS's of a second time group. The space stage includes four identical space stage units (SSU). The first SSU interconnects the OTS's and TTS's of the first time group and the second SSU the OTS's and TTS's of the second time group. The third SSU interconnects the OTS's of the first time group to the TTS's of the second time group and the fourth SSU interconnects the OTS's of the second time group to the TTS's of the first time group.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1983Date of Patent: May 28, 1985Assignee: GTE Automatic Electric Inc.Inventors: Nathaniel Simmons, Sergio E. Puccini, Stig E. Magnusson, Kamal I. Parikh

Patent number: 4499336Abstract: A modular Common Channel Interoffice Signaling (CCIS) system is described for use with an electronic switching office. This system provides for minimal impact to the program instructions of the switching office. Virtually all modifiable CCIS program instructions are contained within the CCIS system. Therefore, any feature changes or additions to the CCIS system affect only the CCIS system and not the switching office. In addition, the central processing arrangement of the present CCIS system operates a large number of analog and/or digital transmission devices for CCIS data transfer.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1982Date of Patent: February 12, 1985Assignee: GTE Automatic Electric Inc.Inventors: Agop K. Krikor, Sergio E. Puccini

Patent number: 4480330Abstract: An arrangement for the distribution of digital service tones in a distributed processor digital switching network is shown. These service tones are distributed between the time stages of the digital switching network with a minimum of interprocessor communication. This is accomplished by transmitting the particular service tone, from the terminating time stage which detects the need for tone application, through the switching network paths already established for voice communication. These service tones include such tones as reorder tone, dial tone, busy tone, DTMF tones, MF tones and ringback tone.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1982Date of Patent: October 30, 1984Assignee: GTE Automatic Electric Inc.Inventors: Stig E. Magnusson, Sergio E. Puccini, Kamal I. Parikh

Patent number: 4406005Abstract: A simplex time-space-time switching network is shown in which there is a crossover of voice information from one rail to another rail in a large digital switching system. The time control unit is divided into two rails both incoming and outgoing. Each rail multiplexes two 193 channel streams into one 386 channel stream of information. These two rails crossover in the originating time switching stage but remain segregated throughout the space switching stage and the terminating time switching stage.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1980Date of Patent: September 20, 1983Assignee: GTE Automatic Electric Labs Inc.Inventors: Nathaniel Simmons, Stig Magnusson, Sergio E. Puccini, Donald W. McLaughlin, David J. Stelt
