    Abstract: A braking unit for selectively stopping one or more items advanced by a conveyor along a transferring path comprises: a first and a second braking element arranged on opposite sides of the conveyor and facing each other; an actuator which can be selectively activated for moving the first braking element towards the second braking element so as to clamp the item or items to be braked between the first and second braking element; and a lever connecting the actuator to the first braking element and extendible towards the second braking element as a result of the thrust exerted on the first braking element by the item or items to be braked.
