Abstract: In an elevator installation, a source of electrical energy provides electrical power to a cabin lamp mounted within a cabin to illuminate the cabin during regular and emergency situations. The lamp includes a carrier having at least one terminal to receive electrical power from the source of electrical energy. A light element is coupled to the terminal and positioned on the carrier to illuminate the cabin. The lamp includes further an energy storage device positioned on the carrier and coupled to the light element to power the light element during emergency situations. The carrier, the energy storage device and the light element may be positioned within a housing of the lamp.
