  • Publication number: 20120297980
Abstract: An engine crankcase breather for oil segregation, from blow-by gases, in an engine. The engine crankcase breather includes a housing with an inlet located in a downstream direction of the blow-by gases and an outlet. The breather also includes a baffle within the housing which poses a tortuous path for the blow-by gases, in order to segregate oil particles from the blow-by gases. The baffle includes a hook-shaped portion, in which the oil segregation takes place. The engine crankcase breather further includes a trough extending within the housing.

  • Patent number: 8210135
Abstract: A ventilation system for use with an internal combustion engine having a crankcase is disclosed. The ventilation system may have a breather housing connected to ventilate gases from the crankcase, and a filtration canister fluidly connected downstream of the breather housing. The filtration canister may have a filter housing, a filtering medium located within the filter housing to collect oil from the gases, and an oil collection container disposed within the filter housing and being configured to receive at least a portion of the filtering medium. The oil collection container may have a drain port in fluid communication with the crankcase. The filtration canister may also have at least one port configured to discharge the gases from the housing after the gases have passed through the filtering medium.

  • Patent number: 7426924
Abstract: An engine has a housing and a working member movable within an interior of the housing and separating a combustion chamber from a non-combustion chamber. Additionally, the engine may include a chamber-ventilation system that may include a passageway with a first end of the passageway connected to the non-combustion chamber and a second end of the passageway located downstream of the first end of the passageway. The chamber-ventilation system may further include a filter system disposed within the passageway. The filter system may include a filter housing and a filter disposed in the filter housing. Additionally, the chamber-ventilation system may be configured such that, during operation of the engine, gas travels from the non-combustion chamber, into the first end of the passageway, through the passageway, to the second end of the passageway.
