Publication number: 20090014061Abstract: A high efficiency triple-junction solar cell and method of manufacture therefor is provided wherein junctions are formed between different types of III-V semiconductor alloy materials, one alloy of which contains a combination of an effective amount of antimony (Sb) with gallium (Ga), indium (In), nitrogen (N, the nitride component) and arsenic (As) to form the dilute nitride semiconductor layer GaInNAsSb which has particularly favorable characteristics in a solar cell. In particular, the bandgap and lattice matching promote efficient solar energy conversion.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 8, 2008Publication date: January 15, 2009Applicant: The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior UniversityInventors: James S. Harris, JR., Homan B. Yuen, Seth R. Bank, Mark A. Wistey, David B. Jackrel

Patent number: 6592259Abstract: Two independently articulated arms supporting an x-ray tube and x-ray detector, respectively, are mounted offset to the patient and controlled to simulate a wide variety of conventional x-ray positioners. The arms are at least partially defined by a plurality of links that are connected at joints having independent axes of motion. The number of links, and corresponding degrees of freedom for the arms may be predetermined based on the end user application for the positioner.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2002Date of Patent: July 15, 2003Assignee: GE Medical Systems Global TechnologyInventors: Michael M. Crain, Seth R. Banks, Michael J. Pajerski, Michael J. Barber

Patent number: 5288436Abstract: A lenticule is bonded to the eye as part of its formation process by curing or final curing the lenticule on the eye. Such lenticules provide a smooth transition from the body of the lenticule to Bowman's layer on which the lenticule is disposed. The lenticule at the time its material or precursor is placed on the eye may vary from being essentially all viscous collagen which flows and must be molded to obtain a desired lenticule configuration to a substantially stable preform which holds its own shape. Such preformed lenticules may be formed using an appropriate mold and photopolymerization or other partial curing techniques to pre-cure the lenticule material to an appropriate stage for application to the eye.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1992Date of Patent: February 22, 1994Assignee: Colloptics, Inc.Inventors: Yung S. Liu, Keith P. Thompson, Raymond P. Gailitis, Seth R. Banks, Gary C. Taylor

Patent number: 5196027Abstract: An apparatus and process for applying a synthetic lenticule to the cornea of a human eye is disclosed, the process also contemplating selective reprofiling of the lenticule while it is in place over the cornea. The process involves securing the lenticule over the cornea with an adhesive, thus leaving the visual axis of the eye undisturbed or with the peripheral edge thereof being retained by a peripheral slit. A laser delivery system is used to reprofile the lenticule if necessary for refining the refractive power of the lenticule.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1991Date of Patent: March 23, 1993Inventors: Keith P. Thompson, Yung S. Liu, Seth R. Banks, Raymond P. Gailitis

Patent number: 5109424Abstract: A headphone having a dual element speaker unit including a face plate having an opening generally centrally located therein. A case coupler is mounted in the opening, and has an annular projection protruding through the opening. A first dynamic transducer is mounted within that annular projection. A second dynamic transducer is mounted to the case coupler opposite the first transducer. The case coupler includes an isolating plate, positioned between the first and second transducers, for sonically isolating the first transducer from the second. A grill plate is mounted over the annular projection, for providing a load to the first transducer. The isolating plate includes an opening, located outside the periphery of the annular projection, for allowing the passage of sound from the second transducer to the listener. A support assembly is connected to the face plate, and a cup assembly in turn connected to the support assembly.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 1990Date of Patent: April 28, 1992Assignee: Koss CorporationInventors: Eugene M. Andre, Allan G. Mlodzikowski, Seth R. Banks
