  • Patent number: 5141615
Abstract: An entrance chamber is provided adjacent a plating chamber at a substantially same level as the plating chamber. A carrier is provided for supporting a jig for hanging a workpiece and for conveying the jig between the entrance chamber and the plating chamber. A conveying device is provided in the plating chamber for conveying the jig between the carrier and a plating tank in the plating chamber for performing the plating of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5074973
Abstract: There is disclosed a non-aqueous electrolytic aluminum plating bath composition comprising an aluminum halide and a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic onium halide compound and containing an additive selected from the group consisting of an inorganic halide compound, aromatic aldehyde, ketone or carboxylic acid, an unsaturated heterocyclic compound containing more than one nitrogen atom, an unsaturated heterocyclic compound containing a sulfur atom, an aromatic hydrocarbon compound containing a sulfur atom, an aromatic hydrocarbon compound containing an amino group and an aromatic amine; and further optionally an organic polymer. The bath composition is easy in maintenance, has good covering power, and enables smooth plating with low current density.

  • Patent number: 4906342
Abstract: In the plating for electrodeposition of aluminum using a non-aqueous solution, a plating bath is prepared to comprise a low-melting plating bath, which comprises a molten mixture comprising an aluminum halide and a dialkyl-and/or trialkylpyridinium halide represented by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, R.sup.3 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and X represents a halogen atom; and said alkyl groups each refer to a straight-chain hydrocarbon group, a branched hydrocarbon group, an alicyclic hydrocarbon group, or any of these further partly containing an aromatic hydrocarbon group,by which the bath life, operability in handling, conductivity, and current efficiency can be improved.

  • Patent number: 4904355
Abstract: In the plating for electrodeposition of aluminum using a mixed molten salt bath comprising an aluminum halide and a quaternary ammonium salt, the mixed molten salt bath comprises from 20 to 80 mol % of the aluminum halide and from 20 to 80 mol % of a 1-alkyl- or 1,3-dialkylimidazolium halide, provided that the alkyl group has 1 to 12 carbon atoms, by the use of which the plating can be carried out at a high current density of not less than 30 A/dm.sup.2 without generation of burnt deposits, which has been difficult to carry out using the conventional molten salt bath. Addition of a halide of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, or an organic solvent, to the above plating bath can improve conductivity and also enhance uniform electrodeposition performance.

  • Patent number: 4747916
Abstract: In a plating bath for electrodeposition of aluminum, comprising a nonaqueous electrolyte using a eutectic mixture fusible at room temperature, the plating bath comprises a mixture of about 40 to 80 mol % of an aluminum halide and about 20 to 60 mol % of butyl pyridinium halide, or further comprises an organic solvent mixed in said mixture. This plating bath may not cause any color change of a coating into gray or black to assure white and uniform appearance, even when current density is increased to 30 A/dm.sup.2 or varied in the range from 0.1 to 30 A/dm.sup.2.
