    Abstract: An apparatus made of a synthetic resin for attaching, in breakaway fashion, a rear view mirror mounted within an automobile. A base member is attached to the automobile body and is provided with a thinned region having numerous tiny holes therein whereby when a substantial impact is applied to the mirror section, the base fractures in the thinned region causing the mirror device as a whole to break away from the base.
