Patent number: 6880520Abstract: In a direct injection diesel engine, front and rear intake openings of each cylinder are arranged along the row direction of the cylinders on one side thereof. A front intake port communicating with the front intake opening is formed to extend from the front intake opening in a direction generally perpendicular to the row direction of the cylinders. A rear intake port communicating with the rear intake opening is formed to be directed to a flow direction of a swirl generated in the corresponding combustion chamber.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2003Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: Mitsubishi Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tamon Tanaka, Setsuo Nishihara

Publication number: 20040194450Abstract: An exhaust purification device incinerates particulates, collected by the DPF, always in an appropriate combustion state, thereby surely regenerating a DPF without melting down the DPF. An ECU of the device estimates the amount of the particulates collected by the DPF (S6), selects a map according to whether the collection amount is appropriate or excessive (S8), determines a target oxygen amount from a DPF temperature on the basis of the selected map (S10 and S12), and feedbacks the oxygen amount in exhaust gas to the target oxygen amount (S20). Since the particulate collection amount is reflected in control of the oxygen amount, the particulates can be incinerated always in the appropriate combustion state regardless of the particulate collection amount.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2004Publication date: October 7, 2004Inventors: Tamon Tanaka, Setsuo Nishihara

Patent number: 6763659Abstract: An exhaust emission control device having a deposit amount detecting section for detecting a deposit amount correlation value Qpm of the particulate matter captured by a diesel particulate filter, a temperature detecting section for detecting a temperature correlation value Tdpf of the particulate filter, and a correction section for correcting the target idle rotating speed Ni to the higher rotating speed to suppress overheating of the diesel particulate filter in accordance with detection results of the deposit amount detecting section and the temperature detecting section.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2003Date of Patent: July 20, 2004Assignee: Mitsubishi Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tetsuya Watanabe, Setsuo Nishihara, Tamon Tanaka

Patent number: 6019692Abstract: A belt drive device is constructed by looping a timing belt 14 about a driving sprocket 9, a cam sprocket 11, and a driven sprocket 12 for transmitting a driving force from the driving sprocket 9 to the sprockets 11, 12. A dynamic damper 15, comprising a ring mass 153 and an elastic ring 152 for holding the ring mass 153, is mounted on the driven sprocket 12 that has the largest amplitde of torque fluctuation among the sprockets 11, 12. The dynamic damper 15 absorbs revolution fluctuations of the driven sprocket 12 that has the largest amplitude of torque fluctuation. Thus, at the time of resonance during which the belt load on the timing belt 15 sharply increases, the sharp increase in the timing belt load can be minimized, and maximum load on the timing belt 15 can be decreased, whereby the durability of the timing belt 15 can be secured.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1997Date of Patent: February 1, 2000Assignee: Mitsubishi Jidosha Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Ichiyo Kojima, Satoshi Imai, Kiyoshi Hatano, Setsuo Nishihara

Patent number: 5441020Abstract: In a valve-moving apparatus for an internal combustion engine, lever members are integrally formed with rocker shaft parts and arm parts, the lever members are provided with large-diameter parts larger in diameter than support parts, disposed between support parts of the rocker shaft parts supported by support members of the engine and the arm parts; rocker arms driven by cams are rotatably supported on the large-diameter parts; and change-over mechanisms for selectively engaging the large-diameter parts and the rocker arms are disposed in the large-diameter parts, thereby improving rigidity of the large-diameter parts and achieving improved reliability of the change-over mechanisms.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1993Date of Patent: August 15, 1995Assignee: Mitsubishi Jidosha Kogyou Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shinichi Murata, Setsuo Nishihara, Tetsuo Kataoka, Hideki Miyamoto, Noriyuki Miyamura, Masahiko Kubo, Hirofumi Higashi
