  • Patent number: 7635419
Abstract: A shoe press apparatus of a paper machine for pressing wet paper through a nip includes a counter roll, and a shoe module disposed adjacent to the counter roll. The shoe module includes a cylindrical blanket, and a press mechanism disposed inside the cylindrical blanket, extending in a width direction of the cylindrical blanket and individually pressing a plurality of pressed portions formed on the cylindrical blanket along a traveling direction of the wet paper, toward an outer-surface of the counter roll so that the wet paper is pressed in the nip between the cylindrical blanket and the counter roll so that a pressure can be applied efficiently in response to a density required for paper solely by the shoe press apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7575544
Abstract: An oil recovery apparatus for a roll apparatus by which oil inside a roll mantle can be recovered efficiently even when the roll mantle rotates at a high speed. The roll apparatus includes shoe (5) having a contact portion (7) positioned at an upper portion inside a roll mantle (4), and an oil recovery pan (8) for recovering oil (50) entrained inside the roll mantle (4) upon rotation of the roll mantle (4). The oil recovery pan is disposed below the contact portion (7) on an upstream side in the direction of rotation of the roll mantle (4) with respect to the contact portion (7). Further, an outer edge upper end portion (12) of the oil recovery pan (8) extends to a position proximate to the inner circumferential face of the roll mantle (4) within a range in which the outer edge upper end portion (12) does not interfere with an oil film formed from the oil (50) entrained inside the roll mantle (4).

  • Publication number: 20070028786
Abstract: A calender for a sheet of paper comprising a metal roll which is rotated by a first driving unit. The calender further comprises a rotatable cylindrical jacket, a pressurizing shoe, and a plurality of support members. The cylindrical jacket is disposed opposite the metal roll to form a calender nip so that the sheet of paper is continuously passed through the calender nip. The pressurizing shoe is provided within the jacket at the position of the calender nip and presses the interior surface of the jacket radially outward to pressurize the calender nip. The support members are disposed inside the jacket so that they are equally balanced in the peripheral direction of the jacket.

  • Patent number: 6388749
Abstract: There is provided a monitoring apparatus for preventing paper breakage. For this monitoring apparatus, a light source 9 is disposed on the upper side of a wet paper 1, and a light emitting face thereof faces downward. An operation-side camera 5a and a drive-side camera 5b are disposed on the side opposite to the light source 9 with respect to the wet paper 1, and a lens face thereof faces upward. Light 9a of the light source 9 passes through the wet paper 1 after being reflected from a mirror 11, and is caught by the cameras 5a and 5b. Thus, the cameras 5a and 5b photograph a silhouette (image) of the light 9a of the light source 9, which has passed through the wet paper 1. This image is sent to an image processing unit 6, where the image is processed. The coordinates of a boundary line such that the wet paper 1 separates from a center roll 2 is detected from the images photographed from two directions. This coordinate value is sent to a computer 8.

  • Patent number: 5632862
Abstract: In a roll for a paper-making machine, a torque which is needed for rotating the roll is reduced and the drive power and a running cost are reduced. A hollow perforated roll in the paper-making machine is rotatably mounted on a bearing housing via a bearing. A cylindrical stationary center shaft extends in an axial direction through a center of the roll and has a perforated circumferential surface. At least two fins extending in an axial direction are mounted on an outer circumferential surface of the center shaft within the hollow interior of the roll, their outer edges being spaced from the inner circumferential surface of the perforated roll. Radially extending disc-like fins are also mounted on the outer circumferential surface of the center shaft perpendicular to an axis of the center shaft with their outer circumferential edges being spaced with a slight gap from the inner circumferential surface of the perforated roll.
