    Abstract: A phase interpolator includes a plurality of source-coupled transistor pairs and a plurality of current sources. The plurality of source-coupled transistor pairs may be configured to receive different phase shifted versions of an input signal. A differential output of each source-coupled transistor pair may be coupled to a differential output of the phase interpolator. Each current source in the plurality of current sources may be configured to supply a portion of a tail current to one or more source-coupled transistor pairs in the plurality of source-coupled transistor pairs at a level defined by a codeword. Step changes in amplitude of the tail current may occur in response to incremental changes in the codeword. The step changes in amplitude may vary with the amplitude of the tail current.
