  • Publication number: 20060044839
Abstract: A backlight assembly includes a lamp, a light guide plate, a receiving container and a lamp holder. The lamp generates light. The light guide plate has a light incident face through which the light generated by the lamp enters the light guide plate. The light guide plate guides the light. The receiving container has a base plate and sidewalls protruding from the edge portions of the base plate to define a receiving space for receiving the lamp and the light guide plate. The lamp holder holds an end portion of the lamp and includes a buffer portion. When an impact is applied to the backlight assembly, the buffer portion absorbs the impact to prevent damages to the lamp and the light guide plate.

  • Publication number: 20050078469
Abstract: The backlight assembly includes a lamp unit, a light guide plate and a receiving container. The light guide plate includes a light exiting surface, a light reflecting surface facing the light exiting surface, and side surfaces. The receiving container includes a frame plate and sidewall protruding from an outer edge of the frame plate to form a receiving space for receiving the lamp unit and the light guide plate. The first distance between an inner surface of the sidewall and an outer surface of the light guide plate at a first region is greater than a second distance between the inner surface of the sidewall and the outer surface of the light guide plate at a second region. The light guide plate is more spaced apart from the sidewall at the corners where much noise was made, in a general backlight assembly, so that the noise is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6854858
Abstract: A light guide device and a liquid crystal display module and a liquid crystal display device having the light-guide device that can minimize the flowing of a light guide plate received in a mold frame by improving the structure of the light guide plate of the liquid crystal display device. A light guide device for receiving a light from a lamp unit and guiding the light to a display unit for displaying an image has a catching jaw is formed by cutting off both corner portion of a first end portion to which the light from the lamp unit is inputted. The width of the first end portion including the catching jaw is wider than the width of a second end portion opposite to the first end portion. Therefore, the catching amount of a catching boss integrally formed with the mold frame and the catching jaw of the light guide plate is remarkably increased and the light guide plate is prevented from being flowed towards the lamp even when exterior impacts are applied to the liquid crystal display device.

  • Publication number: 20030016313
Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display (LCD) device in which a movement of a light guide plate received in a mold frame can be minimized. A light guide plate has catching jaws and projections. The catching jaws are formed by cutting at least one corner of an end portion of the light guide plate receiving the light from the lamp unit. The projections extend outwardly from sidewalls of the catching jaws, which respectively have a thinner thickness than the catching jaws. A mold frame receives the light guide plate and the lamp unit and has catching bosses and recesses. The catching bosses are formed at positions corresponding to the catching jaws on a bottom surface of the mold frame to engage with the catching jaws to fix the light guide plate in the mold frame. The recesses are formed at respective positions corresponding to the projections at sidewalls of the mold frame to receive the projections.
