    Abstract: A printer may include a main body and a development cartridge attachable to and detachable from the main body. The development cartridge may comprise a developing portion in which a photoconductive drum and a developing roller are provided, a waste toner container to receive waste toner removed from the photoconductive drum, a toner container connected to the developing portion and to receive toner, and a toner refilling portion connected to the toner container and to refill toner through the toner refilling portion into the toner container. The printer may include a communicating portion provided in the main body to be connected to the toner refilling portion to provide an access the toner refilling portion from outside of the main body when the development cartridge is attached to the main body.

The body includes a toner chamber to contain toner and a toner discharging portion having an entrance connected to one end of the toner chamber in a length direction and an exit to discharge toner. The plunger includes a piston that is movably inserted into the toner chamber in the length direction and a packing member located at an end of the piston to push the toner toward the toner discharging portion. The weight part is movably accommodated in the toner chamber and has a shape that prevents the weight part from passing through the entrance. The weight part container is provided in the one end of the toner chamber in the length direction such that the weight part can be accommodated therein.

When the coupler is coupled to the rotational power transmission member, the coupler is selectively rotatable in a first rotation direction or a second rotation direction by a rotational force from the rotational power transmission member. When the coupler is rotated in the first rotation direction and then in the second rotation direction, transmission of the rotational force to the developing roller is partially interrupted.

A switching member is mounted on a rotation shaft of the developing roller to be rotatable about a rotation shaft of a developing roller. The switching member is switched to a first state where the switching member contacts an interfering portion of the photoconductive unit and rotates the developing unit to the release position and to a second state where the switching member is separated from the interfering portion and allows the developing unit to rotate to the development position due to the elastic force of the elastic member.
