  • Patent number: 8352000
Abstract: A dual connection member allowing a liquid crystal display unit and a keypad of a mobile phone to rotate and a hinge device thereof are provided. The dual connection member may be used in a mobile phone wherein the mobile phone includes a first housing, a second housing and a dual connection member for interconnecting the first housing and the second housing in such a manner that the second housing is rotatable about a first hinge axis toward or away from the first housing, wherein the first and second housings are connected to the dual connection member in such a manner as to be rotatable about third and second hinge axes, respectively, which extend perpendicular to the front and rear faces of the first and second housings, respectively, the third and second hinge axes being eccentrically positioned in relation to the centers of the first and second housings, respectively, and allowed to be slid as the first and second housings are rotated.

  • Patent number: 7813775
Abstract: A portable terminal is provided. The portable terminal includes first, second and third housings. The second housing is rotatably engaged with one portion of the first housing. The third housing has one end engaged to linearly move closely beneath the rear surface of the second housing and the other end rotatably engaged with the other portion of the first housing. The third housing is folded onto the first housing, interposed between the first housing and the second housing, and when the second housing and the third housing rotate away from the first housing, the first, second and third housings form a triangular prism.

  • Patent number: 7440783
Abstract: A dual hinge apparatus for a portable terminal provides a pair of hinge axes perpendicular to each other and connects first and second housings that form the portable terminal to each other such that they can rotate relative to the first and second hinge axes, respectively. The hinge apparatus includes a fixed housing, a rotating housing coupled opposite to the fixed housing to rotate relative to the second hinge axis, and a hinge housing coupled to a side surface of the rotating housing to provide the first hinge axis. Such a hinge apparatus couples the pair of housings to each other such that they can be positioned laterally side by side with each other. Thus, a display unit can lie transversely and lengthwise, which is convenient for using multimedia services. Using the disclosed hinge apparatus, it is easy to construct various types of information terminals.
