    Abstract: The present invention relates to a zinc ferrite catalyst, a method of producing the same, and a method of preparing 1,3-butadiene using the same. Specifically, the present invention relates to a zinc ferrite catalyst which is produced in a pH-adjusted solution using a coprecipitation method, a method of producing the same, and a method of preparing 1,3-butadiene using the same, in which the 1,3-butadiene can be prepared directly using a C4 mixture including n-butene and n-butane through an oxidative dehydrogenation reaction. The present invention is advantageous in that 1,3-butadiene can be obtained at a high yield directly using a C4 fraction without performing an additional process for separating n-butene, as a reactant, from a C4 fraction containing impurities.

The gaseous product is separated into LPG and a mixture of methane and ethane depending on differences in boiling point through distillation, while the liquid product is separated into benzene, toluene, xylene, and C9+ aromatic compounds depending on differences in boiling point through distillation.

The metal component comprises platinum and either tin or lead. The catalyst enables mixed xylenes to be produced at remarkably high yields from benzene, toluene and C9 or higher aromatic compounds through disproportionation/transalkylation with a great reduction in aromatic loss. In addition, the catalyst can maintain its catalytic activity for a long period of time without deactivation.

The products of liquid phase may be separated as benzene, toluene, xylene, and C9 or higher aromatic compounds, respectively according to their different boiling points, while LPG is separated from the gaseous products, in a distillation tower.
