    Abstract: Electrochemical and bio sensors using metal oxide semiconductors and method of making the same are described herein. The sensor includes a gate electrode, a dielectric layer over the gate electrode, a channel layer over the dielectric layer, and source and drain electrodes formed on the channel layer to provide a field effect transistor structure. The channel layer is a metal oxide semiconductor film that has a substantially uniform thickness of at least 3 nm thick and less than 10 nm thick. The metal oxide semiconductor film is functionalized with molecules attached thereto that are open to make contact with a fluid for detection of at least one component or at least one physical or chemical property of the fluid.

    Abstract: A solar cell is disclosed. The solar cell has a front side facing the sun during normal operation, and a back side facing away from the sun. The solar cell comprises a silicon substrate, a first polysilicon layer with a region of doped polysilicon on the back side of the substrate. The solar cell also comprises a second polysilicon layer with a second region of doped polysilicon on the back side of the silicon substrate. The second polysilicon layer at least partially covers the region of doped polysilicon. The solar cell also comprises a resistive region disposed in the first polysilicon layer. The resistive region extends from an edge of the second region of doped polysilicon. The resistive region can be formed by ion implantation of oxygen into the first polysilicon layer.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a near-ultraviolet stimulated light-emitting compound, and more specifically relates to a fluorescent quinazolinone compound which is stimulated in the near ultraviolet region. The fluorescent quinazolinone compound according to the present invention is colorless in daylight but exhibits a high fluorescent intensity when irradiated with light in the near ultraviolet region. Also, the fluorescent quinazolinone compound can be easily used with printed and plastic molded products since the compound not only has a high degree of light fastness and thermal stability but also high dispersibility.
