    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method to manufacture a composite ceramic material having a high strength combined with bioactive properties, when the material is used as a dental or orthopedic implant, which includes preparing a powder mixture, mainly comprising partly a first powder, which in its used chemical state will constitute a bioinert matrix in the finished material , and partly a second powder, mainly comprising a calcium phosphate-based material.     Abstract: Apparatus for gathering valuable substances, such as uranium, gold, silver or the like from sea water. The features characterizing the invention are that the sea waves are caused, by using the energy thereof, to rush up a ramp (2) which leads the waves into a basin from above, which thereby is filled to a level (B.sub.Y) higher than the external still-water surface (L.sub.Y), the water quantity within the level difference (.DELTA.H) applying a hydrostatic pressure which brings the water in the basin to flow through one or several layers of filters (4) containing sorbing, ion-exchanging or bioactive mass, whereafter the water is directed back to the sea on a level lower than the upper edge of the ramp (2).

    Abstract: A method of preparing titanates suitable as cation exchange material which comprises reacting a cation forming base with a solution of titanium tetrachloride in an organic solvent comprising a solvent selected from the group consisting of alcohols, ketones and mixtures thereof to produce a complex titanate precipitate, separating the precipitate from the residual solution and recovering the titanate, said reaction being carried out in the presence of an amount of water sufficient to cause precipitation of the titanate precipitate.
