  • Patent number: 7136925
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for controlling connections in the gateway of a wireless system, such as the WAP system, which gateway comprises means for implementing the protocol layers. The method is characterized in that it assigns a connection handle to each connection upon the establishment of the connection, in order to identify the connection, maintains a reference count for each connection on the basis of certain conditions that pertain to the connection handle in order to control the connections, increases the value of the reference count of the connection by one unit upon the creation of a protocol object for the connection handle, reduces the value of the reference count of the connection by one unit upon the elimination of the protocol object created for the connection, and releases the connection, and the connection handle which is related to this connection, when the reference count of the connection receives the value zero.

  • Patent number: 7068620
Abstract: A method for handling connections in the gateway of a wireless system, such as the WAP system, which gateway maintains certain information of each connection, which information comprises the first part and the second part. Furthermore, the said gateway comprises the gateway aplication and means for the implementation of a certain protocol layer. The method is characterized in that it involves the storing of a partial connection, specific to the gateway application, upon the initiation of the gateway application, in which partial connection the first part of the connection data is fixed. When the datagram arrives from the radio interface at the gateway, a new connection is stored on the basis of the information of the partial connection, in which new connection the said second part of the connection data is fixed, comprising the bearer employed. The invention also relates to the said gateway, a computer program related to the method and a memory in which the said computer program is located.

  • Patent number: 6678518
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for dynamically converting data between a mobile station in a wireless communication network and an origin server in a wide area network. The method includes sending from the mobile station to a gateway server a request for resource located on an origin server in a wide area network. One or more servlets are initiated in the gateway server. The request is processed and information is dynamically generated related to the request by the one or more servlets. The processed request is sent by the one or more servlets to the origin server. The requested resource received from the origin server is then processed by the one or more servlets, which then generate a response including information indicating content type of the requested resource. The requested resource is thereafter converted from the indicated content type to another content type prior to transmission to the mobile station.

  • Publication number: 20030065777
Abstract: A system and method for controlling access to downloadable resources on a network. Content download requests are received from a network service, where the content download request includes access information. An access ticket is created based on the access information, which includes various ticket fields to store access parameters parsed from the access information. The access ticket associated with a transaction request is retrieved using a ticket identifier accompanying the transaction request. A download of desired content is authorized based on the access parameters of the retrieved access ticket. When authorized, the content is delivered to a user terminal identified by the access ticket.
