  • Publication number: 20110075708
Abstract: A wireless system may receive a plurality of multipath signals from a plurality of transmitters and allocate per-cell modules for generating an interference suppressed signal from the multipath signals. Data symbols may be sequentially processed in the received multipath signals utilizing the per-cell modules and subtracting the processed symbols from a residual buffer storing the received multipath signals. Desired information received from one or more of the transmitters may be recovered utilizing the interference suppressed signal. Timing of the data symbols may be correlated utilizing a cell chip combiner. The data symbols may be descrambled utilizing conjugated scrambling codes associated with one of the plurality of transmitters. Orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) codes may be generated utilizing a Walsh transform on the data symbols. Power levels of the OVSF codes may be estimated and estimated signals may be generated based on the OVSF codes and the estimated power levels.

  • Patent number: 7899421
Abstract: A method and system for a double search algorithm of user group selection for multiuser MIMO downlink transmission are provided. The use of optimal brute-force user group selection may require high computational expense. A first search operation may be based on a first user having a channel gain greater than that of other users, while a second search operation may be based on a second user having a channel gain greater than that of the remaining users. A maximized system capacity may be determined based on the maximized system capacities determined in the first and second search loop. A receiver pair associated with the maximized system capacity may be selected as the user group. The double search algorithm may reduce the computational complexity while achieving performances that may exceed the TDMA scheme and be similar to that of systems with ideal CSI at the transmitter.

  • Patent number: 7890145
Abstract: Systems and methods that provide antenna selection in multi-antenna-element communication systems are provided. In one embodiment, a system that selects N antenna elements in an M-antenna-element transmitter or an M-antenna-element receiver, in which N is less than M, may include, for example, M antenna elements in the M-antenna-element transmitter or the M-antenna-element receiver; N RF chains; and a switch coupled to the N RF chains. The M-antenna-element receiver may determine a bit error rate for each possible N antenna element subset of the M antenna elements. • Patent number: 7869537
Abstract: A system and method for generating transmit weighting values for signal weighting that may be used in various transmitter and receiver structures is disclosed herein. The weighting values are determined as a function of frequency based upon a state of a communication channel and the transmission mode of the signal. In variations, weighting of the weighted signal that is transmitted through each of a plurality of antennas is carried out with one of a corresponding plurality of transmit antenna spatial weights. In these variations, a search may be conducted over various combinations of transmit weighting values and transmit antenna spatial weights in order to find a weight combination that optimizes a performance measure such as the output signal-to -noise ratio, the output bit error rate or the output packet error rate.
