Publication number: 20240136846Abstract: The present technology discloses a three-phase and single-phase two-way charger. According to a specific example of the present invention, a battery charger having a single-stage structure for a combined use of single-phase and three-phase is implemented without an electrolytic capacitor which lowers the reliability and charging efficiency, to enable a compatible use of single-phase and three-phase external power sources, and to improve charging efficiency and the performance in a wide input/output voltage range by a reduced number of switching elements and a soft switching operation of the switching elements and thus improve the reliability and lifetime. A lightweight charger can be realized by integrating, into a core, at least two of an inductor for removing ripples of the battery charger, a primary side and a secondary side of a transformer, and an inductor for removing noise.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2021Publication date: April 25, 2024Applicant: FOUNDATION FOR RESEARCH AND BUSINESS, SEOUL NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYInventor: Se Wan CHOI

Patent number: 11201548Abstract: According to a single-stage interleaved software switching converter, power factor is controlled and battery charging and current are integrally controlled on the basis of a PFC circuit of a single-stage interleaving type so that efficiency of a charging device is enhanced and the cost is reduced. Further, it is possible to remove harmful electromagnetic radiation; enhance power density and durability by using a film-type capacitor instead of the conventional electrolytic capacitor; reduce switching loss by soft switching operation and to reduce the volume of a filter unit; design magnetizing current to be small by removing a low-frequency component of a transformer and to reduce the volume; and perform high-power charging according to the number of windings of the transformer.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2017Date of Patent: December 14, 2021Assignee: Foundation for Research and Business, Seoul National University of Science and TechnologyInventor: Se Wan Choi

Publication number: 20050253564Abstract: Disclosed is an active power filter with a reduced VA rating for reducing harmonic currents in a neutral line in a three-phase four-line power system. An inverter is connected to the neutral line for PWM-controlling current flow of the neutral line based on a voltage control signal from a controller so that a fundamental component of a load-side neutral current flows to the three-phase AC power source and its harmonic component is circulated to the load. A transformer is connected between the neutral line and each phase line of the three-phase AC power source for forming a current path whereby the harmonic component flows to the load through the phase line. A rectifier is connected between the transformer and the inverter for rectifying drive voltage into DC voltage and applying it to the inverter.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 2, 2003Publication date: November 17, 2005Inventor: Se-wan Choi
