Publication number: 20170069981Abstract: A cable splice includes a casing, a guide, and a pilot cup. The casing has a first opening and an interior cavity. The guide includes a receiving end and a shaft extending at least partially into the interior cavity. The pilot cup is integrally formed with the guide and frangibly connected to the shaft. The cable splice may also include a clamp positioned in the interior cavity and moveable between a loading position and a terminated position. A biasing member urges the clamp into the terminated position. During movement of the clamp from the loading position to the terminated position, the clamp contacts the guide causing at least a portion of the shaft to exit the interior cavity. The guide may also include a rib and a slot allowing the guide to fit in casings having different sized interior cavities.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2016Publication date: March 9, 2017Inventors: Seydou Diop, Paul Zelazny, John Sakmar

Publication number: 20170063067Abstract: A clamp assembly includes a body member and a keeper. A cable groove is formed in the body member to receive a cable. The keeper has a lower surface to engage the cable received in the cable groove. A threaded fastener connects the keeper to the body member. A recess is formed in the body member to receive a washer on the fastener. The recess is defined by first and second walls in which the first wall has a larger height than the second wall. A biasing member is disposed on the threaded fastener between the keeper and the body member.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 15, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Inventors: Jason L. Bundren, Seydou Diop, Paul F. Zelazny

Publication number: 20170054253Abstract: A cable connector includes a body member having a first opening to receive a cable and a second opening. An indicator is movable between first and second positions. A stop member substantially prevents unintended movement of the indicator from the first position to the second position. The indicator moves past the stop member and through the second opening in the body member when moving from the first position to the second position and is exposed externally of the body member to indicate full insertion of the cable.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 8, 2016Publication date: February 23, 2017Inventors: Seydou Diop, Paul Zelazny

Patent number: 9240655Abstract: A cable connector includes a body member having a first opening to receive a cable and a second opening. An indicator is received in the second opening and is movable between exposed and unexposed positions. A magnet is disposed in the body member and is aligned with the second opening. A support member is movable between first and second positions. When the support member is in the first position, the support member is disposed between the magnet and the indicator such that the indicator is in the exposed position. When the support member is in the second position the support member is withdrawn from between the magnet and the indicator such that the magnet moves the indicator to the unexposed position to indicate full insertion of the cable.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2014Date of Patent: January 19, 2016Assignee: Hubbell IncorporatedInventor: Seydou Diop
