    Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a query required for 3-dimensional (3D) display, for example, a visibility query and a localization query, are provided. The method includes: dividing a 3D space into a plurality of regions; and processing a query in units of divided regions, detecting desired divided regions for processing the query of all the divided regions, and outputting objects included in the detected divided regions, as the result of processing the query. According to the method and apparatus, an entire 3D space is divided into a plurality of regions, and when a query required for 3D display or for running a game using 3D display is processed, a query is made to be processed in units of divided regions, and thus the amount of calculation and time required for processing the query can be reduced. Accordingly, performance of 3D display or the performance of a game using 3D display can be improved.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for synthesizing and expressing multiple effects and textures in a 3-dimensional graph image. The method includes: defining nodes in VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language), the nodes being used to express multiple effects; inputting VRML files corresponding to the defined nodes, the VRML files having information on the 3-dimensional image and the multiple effects to be expressed in the 3-dimensional image; generating the 3-dimensional image by using the input VRML files; and expressing the multiple effects in the generated 3-dimensional image by using the information on the multiple effects in the input VRML files. Accordingly, the VRML nodes and fields are defined to synthesize multiple effects and multiple textures in the 3-dimensional image, so that it is possible to effectively apply the multiple effects and multiple texture effects in the 3-dimensional image in cooperation with a conventional 3-dimensional image expression method and apparatus.

    Abstract: A method for editing motion of a character includes steps of a) providing an input motion of the character sequentially along with a set of kinematic and dynamic constraints, wherein the input motion is provided by a captured or animated motion; b) applying a series of plurality of unscented Kalman filters for solving the contraints; c) processing the output from the unscented Kalman filters with a least-squares filter for rectifying the output; and d) producing a stream of output motion frames at a stable interactive rate. The steps are applied to each frame of the input motion The method may further include a step of controlling the behavior of the filters by tuning parameters and a step of providing a rough sketch for the filters to produce a desired motion. The Kalman filter includes per-frame Kalman filter.
