The reference signal being transmitted using a subset of antennas used for data reception at the communications device, and the controller and the communications device utilize cross-polarized antennas. The computing being based on the channel statistics, the transmitting uses the first beamforming vector and the second beamforming vector, the first beamforming vector precodes information for a first antenna at the communications device, and the second beamforming vector precodes information for a second antenna at the communications device.
