Publication number: 20170333613Abstract: An intravenous sensing system includes an intravenous needle that may be inserted into an artery. Thus, the intravenous needle may receive blood from the artery. The intravenous needle may be fluidly coupled to a dialysis machine. Thus, the blood may be routed to the dialysis machine. A sensing unit is coupled to the needle. The sensing unit senses blood pressure inside the artery when the intravenous needle is inserted into the artery. The sensing unit is electrically coupled to the dialysis machine. Thus, the dialysis machine may monitor the blood pressure.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 19, 2016Publication date: November 23, 2017Inventors: Ramin Berenji, Shahid Hussain

Patent number: 9806426Abstract: This invention relates to the field of an electromagnetic (EM) field absorbing composition, in particular, those capable of providing absorbance in the frequency of commercial radar. The composition finds particular use as a radar absorbing coating for wind turbines, in particular for use in onshore and offshore environments. There are further provided coated surfaces comprising the composition, methods of absorbing EM radiation, and methods of use of such a composition, such that a surface coated in the composition is capable of absorbing EM radiation. There is provided an electromagnetic radiation absorbing composition comprising elongate carbon elements with an average longest dimension in the range of 50 to 1 000 microns, with a thickness in the range of 1 to 15 microns and present in the range of from 0.5 to 20 volume % dried, in a non conductive binder.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 2010Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: QINETIQ LIMITEDInventors: Richard Bryant, Greg PW Fixter, Shahid Hussain, Adrian ST Vaughan

Publication number: 20170269687Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to provide haptic feedback for computing devices are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes presenting a menu having a plurality of menu items, receiving data representative of navigation of the menu items using a touch input device, processing the data to determine when menu items is navigated, and as the menu items are navigated, providing haptic feedbacks via the touch input device.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2016Publication date: September 21, 2017Inventors: Shahid HUSSAIN, Katie Leah ROBERTS-HOFFMAN

Publication number: 20160254600Abstract: An electromagnetic radiation absorbing composition is described, comprising a magnetic filler material taking the form of a metallic flake, and a non-conductive binder, wherein the magnetic filler is present in the range of from 1 to 5 volume % of dried volume. The use of a magnetic filler material according to embodiments of the invention is able to provide relatively narrow-band attenuation spectra with good repeatability. The strong coupling that can be achieved between flakes in a flaked filler give desirable polarisation and magnetic properties, while maintaining a relatively low filling fraction. Embodiments may incorporate a flake comprising a permalloy, and of an average size in the range 1 to 100 microns.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2014Publication date: September 1, 2016Inventors: Greg Peter Wade FIXTER, Shahid HUSSAIN, Alexandra Frances PATERSON

Patent number: 9176056Abstract: A method of measuring the reflectivity of a region of an article to electromagnetic radiation, in particular for the characterisation of the radio-frequency (RF) properties of wind turbine blades. The article is arranged in the near-field of a transceiver antenna, which performs both illumination and measurement of reflected radiation from the region of the article undergoing measurement. The method is beneficial in that it can be used with an antenna in close proximity (or in contact) to the article to be measured, for example for use in on site measurement of specific regions of a turbine blade.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2011Date of Patent: November 3, 2015Assignee: QINETIQ LIMITEDInventors: Shahid Hussain, Greg Peter Wade Fixter

Patent number: 8450392Abstract: This invention relates to the field of an electromagnetic (EM) field shielding paint compositions, in particular, those capable of providing substantially non metallic finish. The paint composition finds particular use in attenuating EM signals that may be used to carry data between communication devices, especially mobile phone and wi-fi devices. EM field shielding paints are typically available in jet-black or bright metallic finishes and usually possess limited scratch & abrasion resistance. The paint composition provides a one-pot solution to furnish a composition which has the visual appearance of a domestic type paint i.e. one with a non-metallic finish, with the ability to shield electromagnetic radiation. The composition comprises a supported metallic flake and a pigment, which have been provided in a narrowly defined range to furnish a desirable non-metallic appearance and possess electromagnetic shielding properties.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2009Date of Patent: May 28, 2013Assignee: Qinetiq LimitedInventors: Shahid Hussain, Christopher Robert Lawrence, Philip Mark Shryane Roberts

Publication number: 20130077098Abstract: A method of measuring the reflectivity of a region of an article to electromagnetic radiation, in particular for the characterisation of the radio-frequency (RF) properties of wind turbine blades. The article (10) is arranged in the near-field of a transceiver antenna (4), which performs both illumination and measurement of reflected radiation from the region of the article the article undergoing measurement. The method is beneficial in that it can be used with an antenna in close proximity (or in contact) to the article to be measured, for example for use in on site measurement of specific regions of a turbine blade.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 24, 2011Publication date: March 28, 2013Applicant: QINETIQ LIMITEDInventors: Shahid Hussain, Greg Peter Wade Fixter, Stefan Szwarnowski

Patent number: 5755484Abstract: A vehicle door has a trim panel, an attached inner door panel, and an attached outer door panel defining a cavity therein, and an energy management device within the cavity. The device has two or more elongated deflectable beam members, each being attached to the vehicle door within the door cavity. One or more clips engage the beam members, and are adjustably positionable along the longitudinal axes of the beam members, so as to provide a predetermined substantially planar deflection upon imposition of a lateral displacement. One or more tab members are disposed on the inboard surface of the clip, so as to initiate deployment of the inner trim panel prior to compression of the vehicle door upon imposition of a lateral displacement.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 1997Date of Patent: May 26, 1998Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Shui-Fang Chou, Kristina Janina Khami, Shahid Hussain
