  • Patent number: 12599766
Abstract: Systems and methods for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) includes minimally invasively implanting a stimulating device in a patient's esophagus in the region proximate the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). The patient is provided with a questionnaire related to his disease via an online service. The questionnaire is accessed on a mobile device, such as a cell phone, or on a computer with network access. The data from the sensors and the answers from the questionnaire are analyzed together by a health care provider using the online service. The data and answers are used to program the stimulating device, via the mobile device or computer, to optimize treatment.

  • Publication number: 20260054060
Abstract: The present specification discloses devices and methodologies for the treatment of GERD. Individuals with GERD may be treated by implanting a stimulation device within the patient's lower esophageal sphincter and applying electrical stimulation to the patient's lower esophageal sphincter, in accordance with certain predefined protocols. The presently disclosed devices have a simplified design because they do not require sensing systems capable of sensing when a person is engaged in a wet swallow, have improved energy storage requirements, enable improved LES function while concurrently delivering additional health benefits, and enable improved LES function post stimulation termination.

  • Publication number: 20240390704
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an implantable device that delivers therapeutic energy to a patient. More specifically it relates to implantable ultrasonic devices adapted to affect vascular endothelium to induce at least one substance selected from Nitric Oxide, NO, and/or adenosine triphosphate (ATP) release. Furthermore, the present disclosure relates to the treatment of various medical conditions, such as pulmonary hypertension, peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and Asthma by enhancing local perfusion to specific target organs.

  • Publication number: 20240157126
Abstract: Systems and methods for treating a gastrointestinal condition of a patient includes minimally invasively implanting a modular stimulator system in a patient's treatment site. The modular stimulator system comprises a microstimulator module, a small power source module and a macrostimulator module that are detachably attachable to each other. For the first phase of treatment, the microstimulator module and power source are implanted with a stimulating electrode proximate a target tissue. Electrical stimulation is provided for a short period of time and treatment efficacy is evaluated through clinical results and patient reporting. If therapy is not effective, stimulation parameters can be changed and/or the implantation site can be moved. If therapy is effective, portions of the microstimulator module and/or small power source are replaced with the macrostimulator module for long term therapy of the second phase of treatment.

  • Publication number: 20240115857
Abstract: The present specification discloses devices and methodologies for the treatment of transient lower esophageal sphincter relaxations (tLESRs). Individuals with tLESRs may be treated by implanting a stimulation device within the patient's lower esophageal sphincter and applying electrical stimulation to the patient's lower esophageal sphincter, in accordance with certain predefined protocols. The presently disclosed devices have a simplified design because they do not require sensing systems capable of sensing when a person is engaged in a wet swallow and have improved energy storage requirements.

  • Publication number: 20230372709
Abstract: Systems and methods for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) include at least one electrically stimulating electrode coupled to a pulse generator. Individuals with GERD are treated by implanting a stimulation device within and/or proximate the patient's lower esophageal sphincter, gastric fundus, or other nearby gastrointestinal structures and applying electrical stimulation to the patient's lower esophageal sphincter and/or fundus, in accordance with certain predefined protocols. Electrical stimulation provided by the disclosed systems results in an increase in the length of the high pressure zone of the LES and/or modulation of the receptive relaxation response of the fundus to decrease gastric pressure, creating a longer barrier to the reflux of gastric contents or increasing functional lower esophageal pressure respectively, thereby treating GERD.

  • Publication number: 20220117511
Abstract: A system and method for early detection of adverse physiological phenomenon such as anastomotic leakage through a tissue-of-interest monitoring electrode implanted in proximity to a site of interest internal to the body. The tissue-of-interest monitoring electrode is operative provide an electrical signal responsive to changes in physiological conditions at the site of interest. The electrical signals may be provided to by a communication device to a monitor which comprises circuitry that is operative to process the received signals for determining, for example, if GI leakage occurs or not. If leakage is detected, the monitor issues a warning indicating that leakage occurs.
