  • Patent number: 6113659
Abstract: A fuel composition comprising a hydrocarbon in water colloidal dispersion including spherical hydrocarbon particles having a mean softening point exceeding about 95.degree. C., and a water soluble dispersion agent comprising a surfactant and stabilizer. The process for the production thereof is disclosed. These dispersions have a median particle size below about 4.5 microns and about 90% of the particles have a mean particle size diameter less than about 60 microns. These dispersions are storage stable, stable towards transportation, and can be pumped and passed through a burner apparatus without destabilizing.

  • Patent number: 5552491
Abstract: A star-branched polymer comprising a core portion and polymeric arms. The core portion is obtained by anionic polymerization of at least one unsaturated acrylate or methacrylate ester of a polyol and the polymeric arms are obtained by anionic polymerization of at least one acrylic or methacrylic monomer.

  • Patent number: 5474694
Abstract: An additive compositon comprising a graft and aminederivatized copolymer prepared from ethylene and at least one (C.sub.3 -C.sub.10) alpha-monoolefin and, optionally, a polyene selected from non-conjugated dienes and trienes comprising from about 15 to 80 mole percent of ethylene, from about 20 to 85 mole percent of said (C.sub.3 -C.sub.10) alpha-monoolefin and from about 0 to 15 mole percent of said polyene, said copolymer having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 5,500 to 50,000 and having grafted thereon at least 1.8 molecules of a carboxylic acid acylating function per molecule of said copolymer and reacting said grafted copolymer with an amino alcohol compound selected from the group consisting of a 2-Anilinoalcohol, a (2-hydroxyalkyl)pyrridine, a 4-(2-hydroxyalkyl) morpholine, a 1-(2-hydroxyalkyl)piperazine, a 1-(2-pyrrolidine and a 1-(2-hydroxyalkyl) 2-pyrrolidine.

  • Patent number: 5440000
Abstract: A dispersant/antioxidant bound, Viscosity Index-improving methacrylate polymer composition having a molecular weight ranging from about 20,000 to about 2,500,000. The composition comprises a base oil and methacrylate monomers and antioxidant monomer with inherent dispersancy. The composition being prepared by:(a) mixing a antioxidant/dispersant monomer with alkyl methacrylates and an oil solvent to provide an intermediate reaction mixture;(b) stirring and purging said reaction mixture by nitrogen ebullation for about 25-35 minutes at about 200 ml/min;(c) heating said purged mixture to about 75.degree.-85.degree. C.;(d) adding both a chain transfer agent and a radical polymerization catalyst to said heated mixture and then after about 2.0 hours adding an additional amount of said catalyst to said heated mixture, and then heating said heated mixture for an additional 2.0 hours;(e) increasing the temperature of said heated mixture to about 95.degree.-105.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5182038
Abstract: A lubricating oil composition having improved dispersancy and a low nitrogen content. The dispersant additive contained in the oil composition being prepared by first forming mono- and/or bis-alkenyl succinimides, with, respectively, an amidoamine, and a phenol and an aldehyde. Then, the succinimides are combined to provide the desired dispersant additive product.

  • Patent number: 5066412
Abstract: A polymeric lubricating oil additive containing pendant perfluoroaliphatic ester groups that behave as a fuel economy enhancer when added to lubricating oil compositions. The additive is prepared by the process which comprises reacting a perfluoroaliphatic alcohol with an alkenyl succinic acid anhydride to form a alakenyl succinic mono and/or diester in the presence of an acid catalyst.
