  • Patent number: 11074290
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for modifying the spelling of a list of names based on a score associated with a first name. The systems and methods may receive a media asset, determine a first source of data corresponding to the media asset, and receive, from the first source of data, a list of names, each name in the list of names being associated with a respective copy of the media asset. The systems and methods may generate a reduced list of names, retrieve a criterion from storage, determine a set of scores corresponding to each name from the reduced list of names based on the criterion, select a first name from the reduced list of names based on the set of scores, and modify the spelling of a second name in the list of names based on the first name.

  • Publication number: 20210174835
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for identifying and adapting the playback speed of content to be provided during an activity. The methods and systems receive an input including a start cue indicating a start of an activity and access an average duration and an intensity score for the activity. Then the system calculates an adjusted average runtime for the activity based on the average duration and the intensity score and identifies one or more content items, the one or more content items having a total runtime equivalent to the adjusted average runtime for the activity. The system adjusts the playback speed of the identified one or more content items such that the total runtime of playback of the one or more content items matches the average duration for the activity and provides the one or more content items for consumption.

  • Publication number: 20210144346
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for automatically selecting a target area to project content thereon. For example, a projection device receives content to be projected and content attributes of the content. The projection device also captures images of candidate areas and determines candidate area characteristics based on the captured images. The projection device generates a respective quality-of-projection indicator based on the content attributes and the candidate area characteristics. The projection device selects the candidate area with the highest quality-of-projection indicator as the target area on which the content is to be projected.

  • Publication number: 20210089268
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for displaying subjects of a portion of content and searching for content related to a particular subject in the content. Media data of content is analyzed during playback, and a number of audio signatures are identified. Each audio signature is associated, based on audio characteristics, with a particular subject within the content. The audio signature is stored, along with a timestamp corresponding to a playback position at which the audio signature begins, in association with an identifier of the particular subject. Upon receiving a command, icons representing each of a number of audio signatures at or near the current playback position are displayed. Upon receiving user selection of an icon corresponding to a particular signature, a portion of the content corresponding to the audio signature is played back or a search interface is displayed including autocomplete suggestions related to the subject of the signature.

  • Publication number: 20210019368
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed herein for generating content based on format-specific screenplay parsing techniques. The techniques generate and present content by generating new dynamic content structures to generate content segments for output on electronic devices. In one disclosed technique, a first instance of a first character name is identified from the screenplay document. A first set of character data following the first instance of the first character name from the screenplay document and preceding an instance of a second character name from the screenplay document is then identified. Upon identification of the first set of character data, a content structure including an object is generated. The object includes attribute table entries based on the first set of character data. A content segment is generated for output based on the content structure (e.g., a 3D animation of the first character interacting within a scene).

  • Publication number: 20200400456
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for adjusting a transparency of a map overlay. A mapping application generates for display the map overlay at a first level of transparency depicting at least a portion of a route. The mapping application receives an indication of a current location on the route and based on the current location, detects an upcoming directional change on the route. In response to detecting the upcoming directional change, the mapping application adjusts the transparency of the map overlay to a second level of transparency.

  • Publication number: 20200372696
Abstract: Systems and methods for adjusting a display size of a map overlay. A mapping application generates for display a virtual map in an overlay area that does not obstruct important portions of displayed content. As the mapping application receives location information, the mapping application adjusts the size of the virtual map overlay such that relevant landmarks are shown on the virtual map and important portions of the displayed content are not obstructed.

  • Publication number: 20200105286
Abstract: The methods and systems described herein aid users by modifying the presentation of content to users. For example, the methods and systems suppress the dialogue track of a movie when the user engages with the content by reciting a line of the movie as it is presented to the user. Words spoken by the user are detected and compared with the words in the movie. When the user is not engaging with the movie by reciting the lines or humming tunes while watching the movie, the audio track of the movie is not modified. Content can be modified in response to engagement by a single user or by multiple users (e.g., each reciting lines of a different character in a movie). Accordingly, the methods and systems described herein provide increased interest in and engagement with content.
