  • Patent number: 10431878
Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to implement a 4G antenna in a wearable device (e.g., a watch) in a manner that optimizes the ability of the antenna to send and receive radio signals while minimizing the user's exposure to radio signals. The antenna may be raised above a base portion and a printed circuit board (PCB) of the wearable device to limit radio signals being absorbed by the user's body, in addition to providing a vertical space between conductive components (such as the PCB), metal nodes to which the PCB is attached, etc.) that might otherwise interfere with radio signals to and from the antenna. The antenna may also be split into two different portions (a first portion and a second portion) in order to limit radio signals from resonating in the antenna for longer than is beneficial.

  • Patent number: 10433248
Abstract: A network device identifies Internet of Things (IoT) devices present on a Long Term Evolution, category M1 (LTE Cat-M1) network in a service area with connectivity to a wireless station; determines a reporting configuration currently associated with each of the IoT devices, wherein each of the reporting configurations are based on a reporting requirement for an initiation of reporting instances via the LTE Cat-M1 network; performs an analysis of the reporting configurations to identify a potential signal loading reduction over the LTE Cat-M1 network and/or a potential power consumption reduction related to the reporting configuration associated with at least one of the IoT devices; modifies, based on the analysis, the reporting configuration of the at least one IoT device to enable the potential signal loading reduction and/or the potential power consumption reduction; and transmits, to the at least one IoT device, a message identifying the modified reporting configuration.

  • Patent number: 10291603
Abstract: A device may transmit, to a first device, a first point-to-multipoint message to determine whether to request security information. The security information may be associated with permitting the first device to register with a registration device. The device may receive, from the first device, a point-to-multipoint response that includes first device information associated with connecting to the first device. The device may transmit, to the first device, a second point-to-multipoint message based on the first device information. • Patent number: 9854426
Abstract: A user device installs a third-party companion application with a primary software development kit (SDK) for cellular service activation on a wearable device, the wearable device including a third-party device application having an embedded SDK for the cellular service activation. The user device receives user input to initiate the cellular service activation for the wearable device and solicits, via the primary SDK, user input for account settings associated with the cellular service activation. The user device obtains, via the primary SDK and from a network device, activation parameters, associated with the wearable device, for the cellular service activation. The user device forwards, via the primary SDK and to the embedded SDK of the wearable device, the activation parameters, which the embedded SDK uses to request cellular activation.
