  • Patent number: 12208729
Abstract: A center high-mounted stop lamp (CHMSL) system for a vehicle is provided. The CHMSL system includes a sensor, a primary CHMSL, a wireless secondary CHMSL, a vehicle wireless transceiver, and at least one processor coupled to the sensor, the primary CHMSL, and the vehicle wireless transceiver. The sensor is configured to generate sensor data, such as image data, proximity data, etc., associated with cargo loaded in a bed of the vehicle. The primary CHMSL includes a primary lamp. The wireless secondary CHMSL includes a secondary lamp, a battery, and control circuitry including a CHMSL wireless transceiver and a microcontroller. The processor is configured to facilitate, based on the sensor data, activation of the wireless secondary CHMSL. The processor is also configured to determine, based on the sensor data, whether the primary CHMSL is blocked or not blocked.

  • Patent number: 12187190
Abstract: A lamp for a vehicle includes brackets designed to break in response to a force, or load, to the lamp. Based in part on the breaking of the brackets, the lamp may move relative to the vehicle. As a result, when a pedestrian provides the force, the impact by the lamp to the pedestrian is reduced, thus decreasing the likelihood of injury to the pedestrians. A lamp may further include one or more clips that secure to a front end module of the vehicle. In the event of impact to the lamp, the clip(s) promote movement of the lamp relative to the vehicle. A lamp may further include a damper designed to absorb energy from the force to the lamp.

  • Patent number: 12139061
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to light output that can include light that is outside the visible spectrum to enhance a driver's awareness of the environment. Such light can be output, and reflections thereof can be captured to perform object detection. Outputs can be provided by a display or other output device of the vehicle to supplement and enhance the view of the environment. Such light output and detection can be provided with or in the absence of light that is within the visible spectrum, thereby allowing the driver and/or an autonomous system to avoid excessive reflection of visible light. Aspects of the disclosure can help to improve illumination by a vehicle and provide additional outputs to help a driver and/or an autonomous system safely operate the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20240217427
Abstract: Particular embodiments may provide a control system for a vehicle, which may include and memory coupled to the processors. The memory may include instructions executable by the processor. The processors may be operable when executing the instructions to receive signals from a mobile device which may be associated with a user and may also be wirelessly connected to the vehicle. The signals may be received by sensors of the vehicle. The processors may be further operable when executing instructions to identify a lighting mode for illuminating an area associated with a device location. The processors may be further operable when executing instructions to determine illumination fields and lighting properties based on the lighting mode and the device location. The processors may be further operable when executing instructions to control operation of lights of the vehicle in accordance with the illumination fields and the lighting properties.
